Not WR: Advice about upcoming evaluation

In the last couple of months, I've missed a lot of work (well over 40 hours).  I would say from April on.  I've been experiencing intense migraines (they last more than 3 days, involve ER intervention sometimes) and I'm set up with a new neurologist.  However, my yearly evaluation is up in a few days.  I basically have to write up what I did over the year, what new skills I picked up, committess I served on, etc.

Well, how do I address my illness?  Should I just ignore it and focus on the positve?  Should I wait until the evaluation interview and address that problem if it comes up?  I am really trying to get back to a functioning life and I think I'm taking the right steps.  I just don't want to screw this up.  TIA.

  • Is your boss already aware of what's been going on with your illness?

I wouldn't address it.  Focus on the positive.  Address the sick leave if they bring it up.

  • what's your company policy?
at my job, you are required to bring a note after the 3rd consecutive sick day.

your review is about your job performance.  focus on that, unless your performance has been somehow adversey affected by the absences.  however, they may bring up the absences so be prepared to address.

tehy must accomodate you under teh family medical leave act.  tehy cant punish you for missing work due to a documented illness for which you have the right to be out for 12 weeks (doenst need to be consecutive).
  • I have a very similar problem with migraines - good luck!

Do not bring it up unless specifically asked about it.  If you are asked about it, explain that you are working with professionals and then get a doctor's note.
