I think I'm going to break down. . .

and buy some TOMS. But I only want to get some if they're going to be comfortable enough for me to teach in all day.

And can I wear black glitter ones with dress pants and get away with it? haha.

  • I have the silver glitter ones that I wear to work. They are comfortable to wear all day.

You wear them with dress pants? Or something else?

  • I do wear them with dress pants. They don't look the best with all my pants, but I have gotten many complements on them, even when I thought I should have been wearing different shoes.
I read that they are coming out with ballet flats this spring.
  • Thanks yaga! I just signed up!

Good to know! I sometimes wear flats, but some of the flats are just too, well, flat! haha. I'm talking zero support for my feet. I like to wear heels too because of my high arches, but some times you just wanna wear a flat.

  • I know the feeling. The one thing I don't like about Toms is how warm my feet get in them.

Ha, yeah, I'm thinking no vibrams.

I don't need a lot of support, just something other than the rubber that's on the bottom of the shoe, you know? Just some padding or something.
    image
  • I see a lot of toms too, so I'm hoping they're worth my $54. plus shipping and tax.
    image
  • haha... for some reason, I had a totally different idea of what was going to be in here.
  • ha, what did you think snippy?

  • Toms would violate our dress code, but the new flats look supercute and perfect for work.

Otherwise, I find Pilcro flats to be comfortable, yet dressy for work. But they can be expensive if you don't find them on sale.

What type of dress code do you have? We don't have a dress code for teachers at all, except no jeans!

Oh, man, it's worded so dramatically, but I have it at work. Basically, dress pants, dresses, skirts, blouses for women, and the same minus skirts/dresses for men. No open toe shoes (although I do that all the time), dress flats, heels, etc. No large earrings, blah blah blah.

Someone had to do a project for a class and developed a strict dress code as an assignment, methinks.
  • Witsy, have you ever bought arch supports to stick in?  I have those in most of my shoes now and it makes a world of difference.  Changed some shoes from almsost unwearable to perfectly comfortable.
  • We don't have a dress code, but certain items are looked down on by administration.
  • oh goodness. ours is super relaxed. most teachers wear khakis and polos.

oh yeah, I have some. I have some dr. scholl's that I stick in my shoes. it helps my arch, but sometimes my feet still end up sore at the end of the day.

  • Ours wasn't an issue for a long time and people still dressed appropriately, except the usual few who are always a mess. But someone is going to school again and I think as part of the classes, there's been some reworking the language in a bunch of school documents.

Plus, I heard people at the middle school were wearing jeans and they were pissed about that, but the original code just said "pants" and it was argued that pants could include jeans.

They can be inexplicably aggressive about certain things, like shoes, though.  It's weird.
  • I wear flip flops every day to school. I know that's bad. No one says anything... unless I actually try to wear "real" shoes. Then everyone comments.

  • Petal, the only flip flops that are comfortable enough for me to wear are the yellowbox ones. But we do flip flops too. Toms or sperry's in the winter and yellowbox in the summer. Our school is pretty laidback.

I do tend to still dress up quite a bit though, I'm so young that I feel a need to be more dressed up. Dress pants and dressy shirts every day for me! I have two pairs of khakis, but I don't wear them a lot.

I hear you on this. Plus the extra height of heels gives me fauxthority :P When I wear flats, my kids are like, "You're TINY."
  • Zombie, that picture is awesome.

Whit, I thought you meant mental breakdown. I read it as 'I think I'm going to HAVE a break down'

How's Lucy? Things getting better with her?
    image
  • Thanks, Snip. It was my favorite FB find of all time.
  • She's pretty much perfect these days. :) Cute as a button, and super well-behaved. Love.her.  H has totally caved and puts her on the bed with us every night. He then complained about not having any blanket because she was sleeping on his side of the bed. Um... move her? "But she was sleeping!"

So much for the guy who fought me so hard on getting a dog....

Zombie, I chuckle every time I look at it.
  • Haha, I'm so glad! That's what makes having a dog so worthwhile!
    image
  • Definitely! Thanks for asking. :) Though I will probably be accused of going soft because of her again.
