Who all is on tonight?

Re: Who all is on tonight?

  • If it was only a question of how he would make it up to me, that would be easy.

It goes much deeper into the "H is creating a good life here while I am just barely existing and we are starting to lead two seperate lives" territory.

  • Ooph.  Okay, I get it.  It's not just the puppy.  I'm so sorry aMrs.  It sounds like your situation is not great out there.  Is your H aware of this problem, or is he being typical male oblivious?
  • He's aware.  He feels bad that gave up so much and am so miserable because of decisions he made.
Our solutions are limited.  We stick it out here or we have a LD marriage.

If I could find a real job, with real set hours down in the city, things would be a bit better.  Problem is I'm too over qualified for this area.  In fact two placement agents told me last night that if I have a degree on my resume to remove it and they are going to help me "dumb it down".

I come from an area that if you only have a BA/BS you are barely educated enough.  Why would I even want to integrate myself into a society that views education as a bad thing?  FWIW, I never finished my degree, but I do have 20 years plus experience.

    What's your field?

I had a mentor who used to live in New Zealand.  He was a teacher with a Masters in Biology, so the school made him principal since no one else at the high school had a Masters.

    Oceania is a different world.

I'm so sorry aMrs.  Have you considered looking in completely different fields to see if there's something for you?  Or find some sort of online work?  I don't know.  I'm just trying to brainstorm because I don't want you to be unhappy.  :(
  • I was an Account Project Manager at a marketing agency.  Had a team of 7 with a budget of 14 million.

There are no such positions here.  It's all Hospitalityl/Tourism/Health. I have experience in none of those.  So yes, I have been looking into different fields.

Online work isn't really feasable.  The internet isn't all that big of a deal up here.  For example when we moved in we could only get dial up service.  I'd say 80% of businesses don't have websites (what interior desginers don't have an online gallery of their work?).  In fact, when I got hired at BK he asked if I had email so I could get my pay stubs.  Who in the hell doesn't have email?!

Thanks for wanting me to not be miserable, but we'll figure something out.  It does help to be on here and be able to get the "attitude" out of my system.  Makes the conversations much nicer ;-)

  • I think you're going to have to come up with a clever blog and then get a miracle book deal out of it, become a millionaire and never have to worry about dumbing down your 20 years of work experience again.  :)

Hey, if that girl from Julie/Julia could do it, so can you.

Hang in there!  And suddenly, I"m hoping a little more for you to get the puppy.  I have a miserable job that my H hates hearing about, so it's nice to have my ever-adoring dog to make me feel better about my life.

  • H wants us to move to the South for his job.  I'm a little concerned that I'm going to find myself in a similar situation to yours.  :\
  • Sorry to hear that.  It sounds like with your schedules a puppy will not fit well.  When H's job moved so he was too far away to get home at lunch we made an arrangement to have our neighbors who are home all day let the dog out mid-day cause we found even full grown 10 or 11 hours was too long for her to hold it.

99% sure this is why H wants us to get the puppy, but it's a catch 22.  Yes, I'll feel better about being stuck at home, but it will guarantee that I am stuck at home!

If it wasn't for the pythons stalking cats, we'd already have two.  I just don't want to walk out at 3 AM to go to work and find a python on the veranda looking for a way in.  At least the puppy will soon be too big to be considered a food source.

  • Eek. Cat-eating pythons.

My dog (fully grown) can hold her bladder for 11 hours, so even with my commute, she's fine by herself during the week, and most activities that we do on weekends are doable still.  The puppy stage is short, and if you get a dog that grows into a normal sized dog, it won't be long before you can recapture whatever lifestyle you choose.
  • True, my dog has spay induced incontinence (she leaks when she's sleeping - and not little leaks either) so with a full bladder she leaks more often than if we get her out regularly.  Special circumstance - most adult dogs can hold it longer than mine can.

And I know aMrs is not is an area where she has a neighbor close enough that it wouldn't be an inconvenience to stop by and let a dog out for a potty break.
  • Mica, where in the south>

Loopy, suprisingly enough we do have neighbors.  We've met the one (who also works during the day), but we all have gates on our driveways, and I've never seen any of the other 6 or 7 people.  I've never even seen them driving up the street.
