    4. What is the hardest/most time consuming thing you cook? Penne Rustica by farrrr
    5. What is the dish or meal you cook the most? Chicken clearly, probably chicken fingers though lately
    6. Any slow cooker favorites? I just inherited one and haven't tried it out yet but my mom makes the most amazing pot roast in hers. mmmm
    7. Is your FI/DH/BF good at cooking anything in particular? He has recently gotten super into cooking and he makes better chicken fingers and apparently chicken than I do. I don't know, because I never eat it.
    8. I love [ordering] seafood, but I'm too intimidated to cook it.  Any fish tips or recipes? I'm scared to cook fish and T is even more scared.
  • 1. What are you really good at cooking? I can do a mean redwine ground mustard reduction withpan seared pork medallions ... turns out purple, but tastey.
    2. Anything you just can't perfect, after multiple attempts? steak on an indoor nordic pan (i dont have a grill!)
    3. What is the fastest (prep time) thing you cook? (actual hot meal) pot roast. takes 5 minutes to prep, cooks all day, come home after letting it cook for 5 hours, and BAM fastest easiest meal ever.

    5. What is the dish or meal you cook the most? fish, rice/potato/ veggie

    1. Pot Roast.  I have finally figured out how to make it so it can be cut with a fork.
    2. Homemade gravy.  After trying 20+ times, I now buy it in a jar.
    3. Philly cheesesteak sandwiches.  We buy the thinnest steak we can find, and it only takes a few minutes to cook.  We warm up french bread to eat it on and always have macaroni and cheese on the side.
    4. Stuffed chicken breasts
    5. Hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill
    6. The pot roast from #1.  Also I made chocolate cake in the crock pot  once that was so incredibly moist and delicious.
    7. H is not particularly great at cooking anything at all.  He thinks he is, though, and I don't tell him he's not.

  • 1. What are you really good at cooking?
I am really good at cooking Italian food. Pasta, sauces, etc. I'm Japanese but for some reason, I would much rather eat lasagna.
    2. Anything you just can't perfect, after multiple attempts?
I have a really hard time making cold salsa. I don't know what the issue is. I think I just always add too much cilantro.
    3. What is the fastest (prep time) thing you cook? (actual hot meal)
Tacos. You throw the meat and the taco seasoning in a skillet. You chop everything while it's cooking. You throw it into shells.
    4. What is the hardest/most time consuming thing you cook?
My FI and I just made stuffed lobster the other day. It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever done. It took forever and the lobster was bleeding green everywhere and ugh...but it was AMAZING. Totally worth it.
    5. What is the dish or meal you cook the most?
FI and I make breaded pork chops that are always a hit. Homemade pasta too. We throw a lot of dinner parties and those seem to be the favorites.
    6. Any slow cooker favorites?
I'm not a huge slow cooker person, but I do make beef stew over campfires that takes several hours, so that's my "slow cooker" meal.
    7. Is your FI/DH/BF good at cooking anything in particular?
He makes this root vegetable medley. Butternut squash (or acorn), sweet potatoes, and carrots. He covers it in melted butter, pumpkin spice, and brown sugar then covers it with foil and steams it in the oven for about 45 minutes. Then he broils it for 10 minutes. It is freaking AMAZING. I think I fell in love with him after eating these.
    8. I love [ordering] seafood, but I'm too intimidated to cook it.  Any fish tips or recipes?
Honestly...I would eat salmon sashimi style. As in raw. I know it sounds really weird, but I really don't like salmon cooked. Just make sure you get a really good, fatty piece of salmon. You could order it from a sushi place first just to see if you like it and what it looks like. If you REALLY want cooked fish, try steaming crab legs. It's really not hard and they're so yummy. Just melt some butter, throw in some Old Bay and it's delicious!

Let me know if you want any receipes in particular! I'd be happy to share. FI and I cook a LOT so we never tire of talking about it.

    3. What is the fastest (prep time) thing you cook? (actual hot meal) this isn't the fastest but it is the easiest/fastest/tastiest combo and it is chicken parmesean sandwiches topped with marinara sauce
    4. What is the hardest/most time consuming thing you cook? lasagna or chicken and dumplings
    5. What is the dish or meal you cook the most? Chicken Stir Fry or BBQ chicken sammiches

You just need a nice big stock pot and a steamer basket in the bottom. Let the water start steaming and then put your crab legs it and put a lid on it. It only takes about 8 minutes, but it really depends on the amount you have. Don't let the water get above the steamer basket. Otherwise you'll boil the bottom and that's not so good. You should invest in a nutcracker or some kind of instrument that crushes things to break open the legs. Tiny little cocktail forks are good for fishing the meat out. King Crab Legs give you the most meat, they are also the most expensive so that's your call. Season with the Old Bay afterwards, melt some butter, cook some broccoli (or whatever) and you've got a very fancy seafood dinner without much work. =)

    2. Anything you just can't perfect, after multiple attempts? I cannot make hashbrowns correctly, They either don't cook enough, or just plain suck, They sure don't taste like IHOP. I also cannot make chicken and rice, and I think its because I just try to make it up. I need a recipe.

    3. What is the fastest (prep time) thing you cook? (actual hot meal) Tacos. Easy and yummy.

    4. What is the hardest/most time consuming thing you cook? Stuffed artichokes. They take forever. Tiramasu is a pain in the ass as well.

    5. What is the dish or meal you cook the most? Smothered chicken with rice.

  • I'm still learning the cooking thing myself. I make 3 dishes very well, and almost every thing else is from a recipe.

    1. What are you really good at cooking? chicken spaghetti
    2. Anything you just can't perfect, after multiple attempts? haven't tried to much, but so far, chicken and dumplings
    3. What is the fastest (prep time) thing you cook? (actual hot meal) 30 minutes--goulash
    4. What is the hardest/most time consuming thing you cook? I only make the easy stuff right now
    5. What is the dish or meal you cook the most? chicken spaghetti--H loves it
    6. Any slow cooker favorites? pot roast with potatoes and baby carrots
    7. Is your FI/DH/BF good at cooking anything in particular? everything. he's an instinctive chef, and just throws stuff together and it always turns out good.
    8. I love [ordering] seafood, but I'm too intimidated to cook it.  Any fish tips or recipes? the only seafood I know how to make are fried fish (usually use catfish or tilapia for this) or tuna steaks (and you cook these like beef steaks, only a shorter amount of time). no tips or tricks really for frying fish, I just batter them in a fish fry and throw them in the skillet.

    1. What are you really good at cooking? Comfort foods - meatloaf, fried chicken, homemade spaghetti sauce
    2. Anything you just can't perfect, after multiple attempts?  Chocolate chip cookies took a while - they were either burnt or raw inside.  They're still not perfect.
    3. What is the fastest (prep time) thing you cook? (actual hot meal) Broiled lamb chops with capellini pasta in homemade mint pesto - the longest part is waiting for the water to boil
    4. What is the hardest/most time consuming thing you cook? Ginger salmon over pureed celery root with a cabernet reduction sauce
    5. What is the dish or meal you cook the most? Rosemary and garlic crusted porkchops
    6. Any slow cooker favorites? I don't use a slow cooker but a friend makes pork roast with potatoes and carrots that is really good
    7. Is your FI/DH/BF good at cooking anything in particular? He picks a new recipe every other night out of a cookbook to try.  I really love his ginger carrot flank steak
    8. I love [ordering] seafood, but I'm too intimidated to cook it.  Any fish tips or recipes? I am only brave enough to broil it.  FI who is from the west coast is going to teach me other ways eventually.

Mags - for your hash brown try this:  after they are shredded, wrap them in paper towels and wring the water out of them.  Do it again to make sure you got it all.  Then season them with salt and pepper and form patties.  Add some butter to the oil in your pan and when you think it is hot enough, drop one of your little potato shreds and see if it just sits there is if it starts cooking - that's how you know the oil is hot enough.  Don't try to flip them until you can move them in the pan.

  • 1. What are you really good at cooking?  i think so, and so does my husband.
    2. Anything you just can't perfect, after multiple attempts? no, i don't think so.  i don't try multiple times though.
    3. What is the fastest (prep time) thing you cook? (actual hot meal) pita or english muffin pizzas, taco salad, quesadillas (when i  use a rotisserie chicken)
    4. What is the hardest/most time consuming thing you cook? shepherd's pie -  i hate cooking potatoes.  hate it.  and my mom's spaghetti sauce is most time consuming, it simmers all day.
    5. What is the dish or meal you cook the most? hmm.  i can't think of anything.  i kind of alternate between a few different things.  i go through phases... veggie burger phases, pasta phase, mexican phase
    6. Any slow cooker favorites? chicken breast with canned soup served over rice.  easy peasy.
    7. Is your FI/DH/BF good at cooking anything in particular? everything.  he just perfected his gnocchi last night.  YUM.
    8. I love [ordering] seafood, but I'm too intimidated to cook it.  Any fish tips or recipes?  we only make shellfish at home.  shiitload of garlic, a tbsp butter, a tbsp of olive oil... toss some shrimp in, once they're pink take them off heat and eat!!

  • 1. What are you really good at cooking? Most things, but I don't do pretentious.

    2. Anything you just can't perfect, after multiple attempts? Pre-made foods. It's almost hilarious. Give me something frozen in a box and no matter what I do, it'll either be undercooked or totally burned. I cannot wrap my head around how to cook them.

    3. What is the fastest (prep time) thing you cook? (actual hot meal) Pasta with a quick sauce? Pan seared chicken thighs with a quick pan sauce and veggies? Mac 'n Cheese? There are lots.

    4. What is the hardest/most time consuming thing you cook? Desserts for the most part, because for some things eyeballing measurements is a no-go, or just meals that take ages to prep and cook.

    5. What is the dish or meal you cook the most? In the summer? Some kind of salad with grilled meat or fish. Fresh vegetable pastas, wraps. I change it up a lot.

    6. Any slow cooker favorites? Chili, chicken cacciatore, lamb and butternut curry.

    7. Is your FI/DH/BF good at cooking anything in particular? He's a good barbecue-er.

    8. I love [ordering] seafood, but I'm too intimidated to cook it.  Any fish tips or recipes? If you like fish, try baking first, then progress to grilling, then pan-searing. You'll get a better feel for how it behaves when cooked and then the progression is easy.
