Lake Norman Wedding- Need help from locals

My fiance and I are planning to have our wedding on the Sunning Beach of Jetton Park at Lake Norman. The problem is, neither of us actually live in NC. I know where to call for reserving the location, but Im concerned with what the area actually looks like. I have seen Lake Norman and LOVE it. But have not seen the sunning beach Do any of you knotties out there have photos of a wedding (yours possibly) that took place there? Will I have somewhere to get ready? Are there restrooms for guests? What about a shelter or building of any kind for a small reception afterward?

Also, I know nothing of vendors in the area. I need a photographer, mainly. My main goal with a photographer is that I want quality photos, but I don't wanna break myself up. We are planning a reception in my hometown and will need to hire a photographer for that as well, so I need to save money where I can.
So what I need is maybe someone that is just starting out, has taken photos of a few weddings so they have some samples I can see. Like a freelance or amatuer photographer...(ex: someone that takes photos part time, has a facebook page, but doesnt have a studio.) I hope this makes sense .lol. i just need some suggestions....Help please!! Smile

I am getting married nearby at The Peninsula Club, but don't know anything about the park.  Sorry!

However, I can offer a reasonably-priced photographer.  She's not an amateur, but she will work with you on budget-friendly packages.

    As for other local vendors:

    Florist:  Bella Grace Floral

Bakery: The Icing and The Cake

    Good luck!

Wow, that location is beautiful! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures but I think you will be so happy having it there.  A couple other vendors you may want to check out are:

    Photography:
Michael A Anderson Photography: http://www.michael-a-anderson.com/ (super inexpensive and does amazing and creative work)
SageLeaf Studio: http://www.sageleafstudios.com/weddings/ ( I actually work here)

For the Bakery:  I agree with The icing on the cake, they do fantastic work!!!

I just mentioned that my wife is an amateur photographer here in Charlotte and has been trying to create a name for herself / build up a professional portfolio.

She has worked for two different photographers here in Charlotte, and has shot a few weddings with them as the second shooter.  She has also edited the photographs from those weddings and created albums for the bride and groom.  Right now her main focus has been doing family photographs, especially since this is the holiday season.

If you were interested in seeing some of her work you can private message me and I'll send you her name to look up on Facebook.

I had a friend who got married at Jetton Park-it is BEAUTIFUL!!! I grew up down the street (Jetton Cove) and we used to go there all the time.  There are restrooms for guests, but I'm not sure you'd have a place to get ready.  There is a pretty gazebo (that's where my friend had his ceremony) and areas where you can look out at the lake.

As for your reception...there aren't any picnic shelters that I remember, and my friend who was married there had his reception elsewhere.

We're having our reception at the Waterford Room in the Galway Hooker (the bottom floor is an Irish pub, but upstairs is a GORGEOUS banquet hall .  They do excellent catering!  It's about 8 minutes from Jetton Park.

If you're wanting something less expensive, Brooklyn South Pizzeria is less than 5 minutes down the road.  They have a private back room and serve pizza and Italian dishes.

I have been VERY happy with Bella Grace Floral in Cornelius.  Another great florist is Loretta's in Huntersville.

For a bakery, we're using Specialty Cakes (www.specialtycakesonline.com)  Audrey is the owner and she is very nice (and very talented!)

Lake Norman is my FAVORITE area! You'll love it! :)  Good luck!
