Beach House Wedding?!

Anyone other than myself having a beach house wedding?

We are having a casual wedding on the beach, then having a low country boil for the meal followed by a big party at the house.

This is more our style, more laid back.. we were originally planning a wedding at the Southport Community Center but that was way to stuffy and not our style..

We are getting married on the beach in Surf City with our reception at the Surf City Center. It's on the beach and very casual which fit our style perfectly.

There are other girls who have had their weddings at beach house.  Amanda, who I haven't seen on here in a while, had an awesome looking wedding earlier this summer at Oak Island maybe.  We orginially looked into a beach house. You can find some nice sized ones that have large private property for a tent.  I just didn't want to have to pay to rent a huge tent.  Also keep in mind you will need to get permits to play music and in some places to put up decorations on the beach.  You don't need a permit to put stuff up in Surf City, but I think you need to in Wrightsville.

how did you go about finding a house for your beach house wedding? we are just in the beginning stages of planning for a early summer 2012 wedding and are looking at every possible idea. do you think 200 people would be too many?

I just did a google search for Beach House Rentals.  I knew the location that we wanted to get married so I was able to narrow it down by searching for homes in the Wilmington and Oak Island areas.  Once I found sites such as http://www.rentalsatthebeach.com/ I began looking for large homes, some sites have event homes.  We really wanted a house on Oak Island however ended up going with another area as the fees for Oak Island were to much..   Good luck with your search!

I looked into a beach house also - just did not fit quite into our plans like I wanted.
One thing I came across in looking at rental houses - some will charge an extra fee for having a wedding on the beach - you will need to be sure when you are looking for one, as well as the maximum capacity.  If you have over the amount of allowed guests, and someone complains about the noise, etc., it could end up costing you alot more than you thought!  (Not trying to put a damper on anyone's plans - just giving you all a heads up)
