Where? Gown Cleaning & Pressing

Hey girls!

So, I've got the dress and know where I'm going for alterations (Olga Samarskaya.) Now I just need to know where to go to get my gown cleaned and pressed before the wedding.  My wedding isn't until July, so I've got plenty of time - just trying to plan ahead and be prepared.  I live in Greensboro, so prefer something close by but if you can recommend a great place in Winston Salem or High Point, I'd be willing to take a look. Also, how much should I expect to spend to get my gown cleaned and pressed?

I appreciate any suggestions and advice!  Have a fantastic Friday!

Are you planning to clean it before you wear it? Is it used? I wore my mom's 40 year old dress and had planned to have it cleaned and olga told me there was no need to clean it before I wear it....

but to answer your 2nd question, I had bought a used couture gown and did have it cleaned (before I decided to wear my moms) and it cost me about $125 I think for cleaning and pressing....

It is not used but one of the "lovely" girls at the salon where I bought my dress stepped on the train and left a nice black mark, so it definitely needs to be cleaned. (Unless, Olga thinks she can get it out.)  Where did you go? $125 is a lot less than I've been quoted so far!!

Um... I'd be like "Salon X, homegirl stepped on this, you can pay to have it cleaned!"

I am down near Charlotte, so I had mine done at a local place here, however I DO NOT  rec. them.... took me almost 2 months to get that dress back from them! They kept saying... oh come by Wednesday.... it wouldn't be ready.... come by Friday.... wouldn't be ready.... I finally had to tell her I was coming to get it and wasn't leaving without it!

Where did you go so that I can make sure NOT to go there? I really need to get my gown cleaned & preserved....At the moment it's in the garment bag, piled up on the bedroom floor.

It was at a place up in NJ and they did take off a few hundred dollars to cover the cost of cleaning.  It happens.  All I can do now is look for a reputable cleaners to get it taken care of before the wedding.  Anyone have any suggestions of where to go?

I've heard of people having good luck at Shore's dry cleaners.  I know they do gown preservation so they are use to dealing with gowns.  I think they have a Greensboro location.  I don't have any personal experience with them.

FYI - Olga steams the dress for you after the alterations.  But I guess if you have to get it cleaned anyway, you might as well get it steamed at the same place.

Thanks girls!  I really appreciate the info and input! Maybe by some miracle, Olga can get the black mark out and I won't have to both getting it cleaned & steamed somewhere else.  Oh, one can hope!

it was a place that I guess is called "B K Custom Cleaners" that's what google says anyway, it just says cleaners on the store- It's on Griffith St. in Davidson.... it was AWFUL! They did clean and press my dress very well, but they were slower than molasis!
