Pole

If you see a stray animal on the road or parking lot, do you stop to help it? Would you look for a tag and call the numbers listed? If it didn't have tags, what would you do?

Re: Pole

  • HS are tricky when they call themselves "no kill shelters." often, that means that animals that are seen as un-adoptable are sent to animal control instead to be put down. that way, the HS is only taking in adoptable animals and can claim to be "no kill."
  • Sarah, I know what you're saying. We are exceptionally fortunate to have a couple of rescues here (well, within 100 miles) who will take animals who are considered un-adoptable. It's mostly cats, from what I can tell, which is sad - but I suppose there are more stray cats than dogs.

Poor anjimals. This is making me sad. I want to go to the shelter and pet fuzzies after work now :)

  • i do, too. i love to donate to no-kill shelters! every time i go to petsmart on the weekends, i make sure i have an extra $20 in my wallet for them.
  • Well, I brought a duckling that I found by itself injured home and cared for it for a night before the wildlife authority lady could come to collect it, and I've previous cared for a few other injured birds I've found. I've never stumbled by a dog/cat/other larger animal that has been injured, but if I did, I would call someone for help and if it was safe, use a blanket to move it gently and take it to the nearest vet.
