Christmas Songs

I'm bored so...

What are your favorite Christmas songs and which can you not stand??

I love "Oh, Holy Night" I get chills every.single.time I hear it.  I also really enjoy "The Twelve Pains of Christmas" and crack up every.single.time I hear it :)

I can't stand anything involving barking dogs or other animal sounds.

Re: Christmas Songs

  • I'm not sure I have a soul -- I hate essentially all Christmas music. I'm an admitted scrooge.

  • I love Baby it's Cold Outside and I hate Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
  • I love Fairytale of New York (The Pogues) and All I Want For Christmas Is You (Mariah Carey)

I don't really dislike any, but I love Christmas.

  • I like "Silver Bells." But only like, once a day.  It's the repetition of Christmas music that drives me bananas, not the music itself.

  • I like anything classic, "O Holy Night", "Silent Night", etc.

I hate all the stupid pop songs "Grandma got runover by a reindeer", "Christmas shoes", whatever.

  • I'm lovin' the Elvis this year.  Particularly "Blue Christmas."

I love Ella Fitzgerald (I think, I'm fuzzy this morning) singing "Santa Baby."

Always a huge fan of Bing's "White Christmas," but that entire CD is pretty sweet.  Including "Melikalikimuka" (again, fuzzy on this and not feeling the google.)

  • I love Baby It's Cold Outside - even the Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey version.
And I always love me some Elvis.

  • The Nutcracker Suite is my personal favorite.  I could listen to it on repeat.  Bonus: it's reallly long!  And yes, I sing along with it even though there aren't words.

Worst: Percy the Puny Poinsettia.  Yep, it's a real song, and my uncle has it on his jukebox.

  • Oh Holy Night is my all time favorite.
I also love The Twelve Pains of Christmas and I haven't heard it in a while!!  Makes me laugh every time!
  • Now if only Elvis had done a rendition of Baby It's Cold Outside...

And Brie- I love love love The Nutcracker suite. Fantastic.

  • Carol of the Bells by the Trans Siberian Orchestra (or anyone really), or that Mariah Carey Christmas song

Not a fan of Grandma got run over by a reindeer
  • I went to see the Nutcracker on Saturday with my mom, I love it like whoa.

I really like the Baby, It's Cold Outside with Zoey Deschanel from Elf - I think it's great.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas; White Christmas; The Christmas Song; O Holy Night (I like both Bing Crosby and Josh Groban's versions); Carol of the Bells; Silver Bells... I also like Christmas in Dixie.

No Grandma and the Reindeer for me and I'm not liking Blue Christmas (or Elvis in general) or Feliz Navidad (and I don't know why).  I don't like most of the new stuff - bring on the classics.

EDIT:  oh yes - The Nutcracker and TSO - love, love, love.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Frank Sinatra
I can't stand the dog barking one.
    image Married and Junk.
  • Bing Crosby singing Mele Kalikimaka. I just listened to it a couple minutes ago actually.

  • Oh and also there is a song specific to Baltimore called Walking in an Essex Wonderland which pokes lots of fun at this really redneck area of the city. It's hilarious.

  • Salt, the Mele Kalikimaka song makes me smile everytime I hear it. I see Christmas Vacation in my mind, and Cousin Eddie on the diving board.

  • Haha Missy that is JUST what I was telling my coworker as we were listening to it! I picture Randy Quaid in that leopard speedo and wife beater with the flippers and goggles and beer in his hand. :)

I love that movie so much.

  • Me, too.  I watch it every time it's on.

My brother just sent me a text message, saying he'd just discovered there's a Cousin Eddie RV Hallmark ornament. Alas, it was sold out where he was. It was sold out at our Kohl's too.

As an aside, "Cousin Eddie" would be the father of said cousin I mentioned in P2's FB thread. That whole family branch = winners. My mom's brother, and she's ever so proud....

  • My favorite is "What Child is this" followed closely by "Do you hear what I hear".  I don't think there's any I don't like, but I love Christmas time :).
