my mom has no real solution. She thinks its all a big joke. She was saying that we can both get married the same day and even at the same time. She suggested a double wedding or that we get married in the morning and them in the afternoon.

Oh sorry...missed the part where you booked your church. Then it is your date. End of story. Send out STD asap. If she wants to be a brat & be mean, then just send the STDs early (I would even give her a courtesy copy) & she will probably shut-up.

Wow.  Just...wow.

I guess I'd be telling mommy dearest that this is the date and time of our wedidng and I hope that she and dear old dad can make it for the whole thing.  I'd also be sure they know that if Sis gets married the same day I won't be attending.

His family is mainly up here as is much of my family. Half of our guest list is our reenacting friends and my sorority sisters (and brothers, too) and they are all up here. Of the like, 125 people we plan on inviting, only about a dozen will have a great distance to travel.

If it turns into bride wars,  I am going to win. I am not cheap and trashy nor will mine and Aarons wedding be. lol. She is wearing the dress she wore to her senior prom for a wedding dress.....she doesn't want to spend anything and already lost about a grand in deposits from canceling the wedding she was suppose to have this summer. I am sure IF they get married next summer it will be......great.

I am sure spray cheese and plastic table clothes from Walmart are on the list of things to buy for their wedding. They should just put the money they save on the wedding away for the divorce.

I see there are some other people who are "evil" like me. =O) I would definitely claim the date and go ahead with making my plans etc. and then send out STD's to your guests. Then if she starts planning hers, family/friends will already be planning on attending yours and she will look childish for planning hers at the same time.

Agreed.  Just say you've already booked your venue and a few vendors (even if you haven't already).  That way it's your date :)

I know you can't claim a whole wedding month, but I feel like this is an exception only because your family is going to have to travel to attend both events.  You've had this date for a while, and now your sister swoops in.

That would make me quite peeved...

You havent paid deposits so no you havent made that your date. Also your sister considers it their day because its their anniversary. I was really put off about you calling your sisters white trash with your sister in law. Thats pretty trashy behavior on your part. If you are really concerned make it a wedding for each day of the weekend and it will be a beautiful double wedding weekend for your oot guests.

its not to late to change the date we want. its just that this date works best for us and our famielies and friends. shes known that we were planning on that date since we have been talking about it since this past january.
