Re: Night Time

  • Hi Holly. Whatcha making for dinner?
    image
  • I just keep refreshing till it all shows up.

I think I might give TK a few more minutes tonight and then I'm giving up.

  • What's the pasta buffet thread? Is it any good?

  • No TK can't be stupid on the one night I'm around.

Congrats Loopy!  I would choose a cooler town... We just moved to a cooler town with more of a commute for me and I love it.
  • How is the new place Barrel? Please TK don't eat this post like you did the last two.

  • i'm giving in and making my mac and cheese.  oops.  BUT I was successfully able to get both pills into my cat today.  That is a new record for me.  I wish I had tried the pill pocket treats earlier.  Hopefully he doesn't catch on until he gets most of the meds.

  • We love it! I love having so much room and having a garage to park in.  Not having to scrape my car every morning makes the commute well worth it.
  • KJB I have to hide one of the dog's pills in cheetos when I have to give her any. She's figured out the pill pockets.

  • I have been having that issue to MK. - the post disappearing.
  • I have never been able to get this cat any meds.  They've always given me liquids.  It is impossible, especially by myself.  So I asked for pills.  I hope I can get at least most of them in him and clear up her URI he's had FOREVER

  • I hear you on the kitty meds. It was so easy to give pills to our dogs growing up by hiding it in their food. Our cats both have meds right now that we have to use a syringe for one and an eye dropper for the other and shoot it in their throats. Not a fun time.

[QUOTE]I started watching Switched At Birth, but then I got distracted (by something shiny I'm sure) and stopped. Informal poll: Would you rather live further away from work in a cool town, or closer to work?

<div>I'm probably late responding to this, but FI and I made the "closer to work" choice, and I regret it pretty much always.  I keep trying to persuade FI to move to the cooler town after the wedding, but he's anti-moving, since we've only been here for 2 years.  My vote is for cooler town.</div>

  • I just pill Autumn.  Stick it back towards her throat so she swallows it.
  • Hi! I'm tired after a long day.

Yay for Loops. Keep us updated. Mac n' cheese sounds absolutely delicious.
  • Oh, and Petals, I made that 3-Cheese Pasta Bake recipe you linked to the other night... it's fantastic!  (I swapped in low-fat sour cream, ricotta, and mozzarella and added some broccoli, it was excellent.)

  • I'm leaning towards cooler town, but I think closer to work might be cheaper which would allow us to save $$ for a downpayment to BUY something in the cooler town sooner so I will have to discuss it with H sometime.
  • I can't type.  I get a bunch typed and it deletes.
I was trying to say, I used to foster cats.  They almost always had meds.  I never had a problem.  But my oldest cat is just a handful.

  • On the distance thing: I lived about 25 minutes from work and HATED it. I live maybe 1 minute away now and I'm in heaven. I run home for lunch! If I forgot something before class, I just run and grab it. I never want to live further than five minutes from my office.
  • Glad it was good Steph. FI just finished the leftovers tonight. I'm definitely freezing half next time.

  • I am pretty sure my FI is going to eat it all by tomorrow - he keeps going back for "just a few more bites."  He's not a big food person normally, so it's kind of adorable.

  • All I know is putting ointment in my dog's eye was the worst medicating experience ever. Aaaannndd her eye got even more infected because I couldn't get it in right. She almost lost her eye. I was pissed about that.

  • I once dated a guy who had a pitbull who had infected ears, and we had to try to get eardrops into them like 3 times a day - she was a pretty good dog, but she would freak when we tried to touch her ears, and she could be pretty scary when she was trying to prevent you from doing something.  Medicating her was the least fun experience ever.

  • I loved where I lived in Cincinnati. I was about 10 mintues from work, but lived in a part of town that was like it's own community. I could walk to the bank, grocery store, restaurants, etc. If it was that kind of living near work, then yeah, but if living near work meant living in a lame place, no thank you. I'd spend all my time driving to other places wishing I was living there instead.
    image
  • Agree MK - this is what happens to FI and I now - we spend hours in the car every weekend driving around to all of the places we actually want to be.  I'm not a fan of a long commute, but I'd gladly tack 20 minutes each way on to my current drive if it meant we could go out with our friends on a Saturday without it turning into a 2 hour round-trip drive.

Oh yeah our largest dog had an ear infection over the summer. I had to do the same thing. I had to put ointment in his ears twice a day (what's with the ointment) and clean his ears out three times a day. The cleaner was the worst. I tried to warm it up because otherwise it was ice cold when it went in to his ears.

Medicating the dogs by myself is a PITA. If Lucas is here it's ok, but still not great.

  • I guess for me I prefer town because the other option is to live in the middle of nowhere. The town I live in is by far the largest town (and it's tiny) within 70 miles. When we lived 18 miles away, it was 18 miles out of town in the country.

I would love to be able to walk to stores and the bank. I wouldn't mind a drive to work but I didn't like being stranded. There was no such thing as "running to the store."
  • I know.. we live in a lame place now, and we never hang out anywhere near out house.  it's annoying.  But when we bought the house we were 7 miles from the place we both worked so that was kind of nice.
