Chili Recipes?

It's super warm here (thanks global warming) but I'm still feeling like chili and cornbread and taking my new slow cooker out for a spin.

Any good recipes?  I don't eat beef (or pork) but I think that any beef recipes could be converted to turkey.

Re: Chili Recipes?

  • I use turkey
    Couple cans of tomatoes
    Tomato paste
    Veg like onions, celery, carrots
    Black beans
A couple tsp of chili powder

I hate kidney beans... so I don't use them.

Garnish with some cheddah cheese and/or sour cream.

    YUM!

  • This is a recipe for Wendy's Chili that really tastes like it

    2 pounds Ground beef
1 can (29 ounce size) tomato sauce
1 can (29 ounce size) kidney beans w/liquid
1 can (29 ounce size) pinto beans w/liquid
    1 medium Onion, diced
    2 Green chili, diced
    1 Rib celery, diced
    3 medium Tomatoes, chopped
    2 teaspoons Cumin powder
    3 tablespoons Chili powder
    1 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
    2 teaspoons Salt
    2 cups Water

    Directions:

Brown the beef and drain the fat off. Crumble the cooked beef into pea size pieces. In a large pot, combine the beef plus the remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer over low heat. Cook stirring every 15 minutes for 2-3 hours.

You could make this early, put it in the crock pot on low and have it all day.

  • I hate the prep work of chili with cutting everything up so I use this recipe.  We make it with ground turkey all the time so its a little healthier.

2 lbs. ground beef or turkey
    1/2 onion chopped
    1 packet chili seasoning
1 can dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can light red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 jar of salsa (12 oz., but I always use more)
    20 oz. Tomato sauce
    salt
    pepper
    chili powder

Cook the meat in a pan first with the chopped onion.  Transfer to crock pot and add all the other ingredients.  I also add garlic powder and red pepper flakes.  I usually cook on high for about 2 hours since I make it in the morning for football then switch it to low, but you can just cook it on low for like 4 hours.  We always have sour cream, cheddar cheese, and jalapenos to eat it with.
