Re: S/O The Scary Movie Thread

  • You are a wealth of random information. :) But actually yes that is interesting. I'm going to confuse my husband with my new movie smarts when he gets home from work.

  • people were really that freaked out by the grudge? i thought it was pretty dumb. that said, a lot of people thought blair witch and paranormal activity were pretty dumb and they scared the piss outta me.

i was really disappointed in zombie's halloween. the stuff with the kid devolving into a sociopath was pretty creepy, kudos to the actor. otherwise though, i thought it was predictable and boring. no twists, and not even close to the level of legitimate creepiness of the original.
  • Daff, I agree, the original is way more creepy, but when I went and watched RZ's versions a second time and listened to the "back story" and paid less attention to the gore, I enjoyed it more. The original is still my all time favorite - there's no changing that.

And, Paranormal Activity had me jumping. I think the reason Blair Witch didn't (and I wanted it to) was because I'd already heard all the hype about it. Part 2 was lameass though. I think if I'd seen it earlier it would have been different.

What bothered me more than scared me about The Grudge was the creepy crawly kid. Same thing in any movie. When people skitter on walls and ceilings or float and drag their feet, that freaks me out. Go figure. Saw someone in half? No problem. Have a kid crawl up the wall? I get chills.

Oh another one I like - I LOVE Exorcist, and I love Exorcist 3. Part 2 wasn't worth the film used.

And yes, Salt, if it's useless Hollywood trivia, especially pertaining to Horror Movies, I know it. I have 2 iPod downloads that prove this:  SceneIt? Horror and Horror Trivia. :)

  • the "back story" was the part about it i liked. i felt like the rest was very routine. though, now that i think about it, the back story was pretty lacking. so the kid turned into the devil because he had a rough home life and one or more of his peers harassed him? that description fits lots of kids. or is that the point? either way, i thought the acting by the kid was superb.
  • I think it was that, plus there was probably something internally wrong with him - not every kid picked on turns violent, but the ones who have severe mental issues do. They sort of touched on that when they showed the mother the pictures of the dead animals. They are making a part 3 but it isn't Zombie. I'm thinking it's either going to be more explaining, or the sister.

Yes, both of them (different kid in part II). And Tyler Mane did a great job as grown Michael. They've been having conversations betweeen him and Kane Hodder on AMC last week and this week (Kane Hodder played Jason Vorhees 4 times, and I thought was the best - in 7,8,9, and X). They both tried to bring a human element to the characters (as much as possible), since neither spoke - it was all body language, presence, breathing, head movement, etc. Kane's awesome at it, and Tyler did a great job. I wish they'd been consistent with "The Shape" in the originals.

And that skittery thing - that's what I hate about lizards, snakes, frogs and ducks, too.

  • Can someone please tell me if the baby does get back to it's family in  "The Hills Have Eyes". I won't watch it because I don't like bloody slashery stuff, but I feell like I need to know this. Lol
