I have been emailing our event coordinator at the hotel we are getting married a to make some arrangements, set up a brunch, and make a payment and go over some details, and haven't been getting any reply, so I call today and ask for him, and the lady that answered said "Oh, Nathan doesn't work here anymore. There's a new girl"  I said "Our event is 1 month away, don't you think the clients should have been given a courtesy call?  I shouldn't be finding out by calling here."  her "yeah I guess"  Could they be less professional.  GRRR

Exact same thing happened to me. Ah well, it's not that big a deal.

Good vent session. I'd be aggravated as well, but just take a deep breath and contact the new girl. It will all turn out wonderfully!

Actually, they probably could have. That does suck though. I'd go meet the new girl and make sure she's able to play 'catch up' and get on the same page. It's possible that the old-dude didn't hand over all the documents properly.

Yeah, they did not handle it so well but you probably should not get worked up about it. I got switched 3 times with no notice, but everything turned out fine on the day. No need to stress out over things that you cannot change.

I'm having issues getting ahold of a potential catering company right now. Both of their phones are going to answering machines and the one that I can actually hear the message to says "memory full" when it's time to leave a message.

The lady left me her cell phone number, but I feel kind of weird calling it.

Yeah that was pretty bad. I would actually stop calling and make a trip to the venue at this point.

Meh, I'd totally call it. My thought is that if she didn't want you to contact her via cell phone, she wouldn't have given you her number :)

Call the cell phone Birdie! She wouldn't have given it to you if you weren't intended to use it.

OP - That does suck, and yes, the new person should have contacted all of her clients to explain that she would now be the planner for their event. I would just get a hold of her and schedule a meeting to go over your file, contract, and details.

Unless she's on the pooper . . I wouldn't worry too much about getting her at an awkward situation. Oddly enough, maybe she doesnt realize her mailbox is full?? I dont know lol. I'd still call :o)

It's a tavern out in the country that does catering as well. Their answering machines are literally like 1990 style hehe. One I can't even understand the guy, it's so muffled.

Ok I think I've mustered up the courage to call her cell.

If it's a bad time, she either won't pick up or answer and ask to call you back.  I like to start off cold calls (or unscheduled calls) by saying what I'd like to discuss and asking if it's a good time for the person--"Hi, this is Jessica, I'd like to talk talk to you about flowers for my July wedding, is it a good time to chat?"

She was at Lowes, but was really nice haha. She was able to tell me they were available and got my info. I'm glad that's mostly out of the way.
