Show me your seating charts!

Re: Show me your seating charts!

  • What vendor?

I used excel and color coded them.  Why would you need to see it?  It's just a list.

Or are you talking about those big poster-sized seating charts w/ everyone's name and table number?
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • I've seen different formats I like that I personally would not be able to create.

    Yes, this.

  • You mean, something for your guests to consult at the wedding? Some people do this, but most people just number escort cards and set them on a table at the front of the reception if they're doing assigned tables.
  • I used weddingwire.com to figure out the seating chart and used place cards (it was a small reception) at the tables. We had the tables labeled though with "family" or "friends" so it was easier for the guests to find where they were seated. Nothing fancy like a chart.
  • here it is!

oh wait, it doesn't exist. :) I hate seating charts and assigned seating at a wedding. I think it's so kindergarten. but that's jmo.

You might have better luck finding examples on the DIY board :)  We will be doing a seating chart, but since we are still six months out, I haven't created it yet.  I bought a 22x28 black frame, and will be making it myself and then printing it at staples.  Etsy.com also has some really good examples.
  • I used an etsy seller to do all of my paper and she is working on my seating chart right now.  Her info is in my bio.
  • Those are great, thanks for the pics!

  • We had a "seating tree."  The names were loosely hung from manzanita branches.  Pics in bio under decor and paper tabs.

<div>No fair, Pooh!  At formal events, it's pretty hard to do open seating.</div>
  • you can have a formal event without assigned seating. I've been to several.

    it's the plated meal.

    <div>How big were the weddings?</div>
  • the largest one I went to was 350 people. no assigned seating, definitely formal (the men were in suits, women in cocktail dresses).

<div>Wow!  To each his own, of course, but that's very foreign to me.  The formal weddings we go to are black tie and I just can't imagine people milling around to find tables.  They're also large weddings.  Where I live, 300 is considered a "small" wedding, 500 is "normal," and anything over that is "big."  </div><div>
</div><div>We had a very small wedding, but I know my crowd would have been caught off guard by open seating.  </div>
  • where you're from is Dallas, right? 300 is still considered a large wedding there. that 350-person wedding was in Athens, but both sides of the family of the B&G pretty much live in Dallas and come from old money in that area.

  • Nope, Mexico :)  But I'm from Dallas.
  • I definitely agree that 300 is a large wedding in Dallas, or pretty much anywhere in the States.
  • We're havomg assigned seating at our 80 person wedding...mainly because we're having an exact number of seats and I don't want a family to have to split up because there was only 1 chair left at one table and 3 chairs at another table.
  • Wow, I hate NON-assigned seating at events.  I was one of those shy, always-picked-last-in-gym-class types so if seating isn't assigned, I usually end up with people I don't know or sitting alone.  Much easier when it is assigned!  Who needs guests to be stressed about finding a seat?
