vodka question for the drinkers - NWR

is Ketel One considered "top shelf" vodka?  I have a bottle i want to give someone, who i know likes "top shelf"/high end voda, but i dont know  much about this brand, as i usually drink grey goose or stoli.

i dont want to appear cheap.

Re: vodka question for the drinkers - NWR

  • I don't think you would appear cheap if you gave this to them. I think Ketel One is considered in the same range as Grey Goose.
  • I am pretty sure it is.

  • I'd be happy with that gift!

Ketel One is in the same range as Grey Goose, and I just checked my list from my venue. Both Ketel one and Grey Goose are considered top shelf liquors.

  • Yep, that's the good stuff.  Ketel One, Grey Goose, Belvedere....I think those are all top shelf vodkas.
  • sweet, thanks!!!
  • If it's in a plastic bottle=Not Top Shelf (IMO)

    Grey Goose/Belvedere are top shelf...

Easiest way to find out: ask someone at a liquor store or find the grey goose and belvedere and look at what is around it. If K1 is close by, you're good

Sure but Smirnoff comes in a glass bottle and I don't think most people would consider it top-shelf. (Though certainly not "bottom shelf" either! )

  • Smirnoff in my store is right on the middle shelf. Ketel one is on the top shelf. Grey Goose is locked up. Popov (plastic bottle of rubbing alcohol) is on the bottom shelf.
This makes me sound like an alcoholic.

Good call! We used to drink that shiit in college and it would literally burn through paper cups. I don't even want to know what it was doing to my stomach!

  • Yes, Ketel One is good. I prefer it to Grey Goose. It's leagues better than Absolut.

The best commonly available one I've had, though, is Chopin. I tasted it alongside Ketel One at a bar one night and it blew me away.
