I have a 3rd cousin whose husband is a minister. I've met him once or twice so it's not a close relationship but I was considering asking if he could officiate our ceremony but I was not going to invite my 3rd cousin or even her parents to the wedding. I'm willing to pay for his services so I don't expect him to do it for nothing but I'm not sure if this is totally out of line since they will not be invited. Should I just look for a non-relative or any thoughts or advice on how to start the conversation with him?.
