DW Question

I went to a friend's DW in Jamaica back in April and it was financially straining on FI and me.  We went though because I couldn't imagine missing her wedding.  Her reception is later this month.  I have a card for her and her husband, but I'm now wondering what is proper etiquette giftwise for a wedding you have already spent thousands of dollars on??

Bring her the card. I don't think you need to spend anymore money!

IMO, your presence at the wedding was enough.  Just give the card, and enjoy the party.

Gifts are never required. Can you swing something small like in the $50 range?  But, if it's not in the budget, it's not in the budget.

We had a couple of people at the wedding who gave us money, and I wished they hadn't because I know they're in tough spots.  I think the card is nice though.  I remember the people who came and didn't give us a card over anything else.

I was just happy that people showed up for our wedding. Hopefully this couple is the same way.

I was in the same boat as Amoro. We didn't expect or want any gifts, but a card would have been nice!

Word.  Especially since the culprits were my own mother and sister's.

I agree, a card is fine. (I also had a destination wedding. Some people gave gifts, some people didn't.) I can guarantee they are just happy that you came.

I would give a card as everyone is saying...  And be sure to mention how honored and happy you were to have witnessed their ceremony, etc.  That will make them feel good and remind them that your presence was their present
