Confused!

My husband and I ran off and eloped almost 6 years ago.  Neither family was happy with our choice in mate.  After going through tough times everyone is happy.  We have decided to have a wedding that our friends, family, and ourselves did not have.  I have read all the etiquette about vowel renewals and some fits but not all.  Would we be in the wrong to combine traditional wedding and renewal traditions?  We are very confused and do not want to offend anyone by having a complete wedding even though we are already married.  Any advise would help!!

<div>Why would you post the same post under a different title?  I already answered you in your first one.</div>

  • She's looking for a different answer.  She didn't like yours.  :P
  • It's advice, not advise

  • how much are vowel renewals? did you win the sweepstakes?
  • Well, IMO, weddings are for unmarried people, in order to get married to each other. Vow renewals are for celebrating a significant amount of time married to each other, like 50 or 25 years. I think you should have an anniversary party.

  • Vow.

need I remind you what a vowel is? A, E, I, O, U....every once in a while someone lets Y into the party too.

Having a 6 year vow renewal sounds odd to me. Wait for 10 years. Don't wear a big white dress. It's a vow renewal, not a wedding. You had a wedding. Sorry you didn't like it.
  • I think you can do some of the wedding things because everyone will know, and because it is a celebration of their accepting your marriage when they didn't before.  I'm probably alone in this though.
