NEED ADVICE

I am getting married in Ocho Rios  and have booked a villa for our wedding.  Our wedding party will be staying at the villa at our expense of course, but I am not sure if we also need to provide food.  We can arrange for groceries to be at the villa when we get there, really don't know how to approach the situation, any ideas?  Please leave all suggestions, as I am going to be sending the indulgence list soon. Thanks and Blessings to all.

Re: NEED ADVICE

  • I would request some groceries like cereal, milk, sandwich stuff, and water/sodas. Anything else I'd say they can take care of themselves.

I would suggest a fruit basket (assuming fresh fruit is ok for Americans to eat in Jamaica?) and some assorted muffins and pastries, and bottled water or gallon jugs of spring water.

I agree.  It would be nice to have some basics around but they should be able to provide their own food for the most part.

    I agree with this.

I have been to Jamaica 2x. The fruit is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS & (mostly) safe to eat. Just buy from a reputable place.
  • I would just provide the necessities, if you want to, I wouldn't think it is absolutley necessary, but if you have money to spare it would be a nice gesture. This being said: fruit, cereal, sandwhich fixings, chips, crackers. Other than that, since you are already providing the villa (which is extremly nice of you) I would say they can take care of their own food.

Question: Are the SO's and/or FI's and husbands of the people in the wedding party staying at the villa too? If they are, I wouldn't even bother with the basics because that can get costly! Judge it based on your budget and how many will be staying.

  • I say cover enough for the first meal or so and then point people in the direction of the grocery store.
  • I'd cover n/a beverages and some very basic breakfast staples.  Beyond that, they should be fine on their own.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
  • I think you've already gone above and beyond by paying for their accomodations. Yes they are standing up for you but they're also getting a free holiday out of it. In we were planning a destination wedding and we asked our friends to stand up for us I would assume that they would decline if the cost was a barrier for them.

Maybe a welcome basket with snacks and bevvies but meals should be their responsiblity

  • Thanks for the advice, I had not even thought of anyone bringing someone, lol.  That's how crazy things are, but since some of them will be bringing a guest then I probably won't do the groceries.
