Registry Etiquette

I had a friend tell me the other day that she saw something on tv about how putting your registry information in the invitation is really bad etiquette. BUT, everyone does it? She said that you are supposed to put your registry info on the Bridal Shower invite, but i think thats kind of confusing, and I dont want my guests to be confused about whether the registry is for the shower or the wedding. I think that if i recieved and invitation without the registry info, I might think the couple isnt registered? What do you think? Put the info in the invitation, or not?

It IS bad etiquette to put the registry info on the invite. You can put it on your wedding website though. I doubt anyone would assume you're not regsitered. If they are not sure they will ask.

Since the shower is a wedding event, I would hope that your guests will be intelligent enough to assume that those gifts are for your wedding in general.

The thing on tv is correct - it is tacky to put it in wedding invites, but is fine in shower invites since the whole point of a shower is to give gifts.

Oh, and not everyone does it.  It would be a HUGE faux pas in my area to do that, although this seems to be one of those things that vary by region.  The etiquette 'rule' is what was on tv, though, and you need to decide if you're going to follow it or break it.

I actually had to tell a friend that it was bad etiquette to put the registry info on the invitation also.  It is a huge breach of etiquette.  Don't ever do it.  She said, Oh all the invitations I've received have them! Ahhhh, Luckily, I've never received one that did.  People who care will be seriously offended.

Is it considered sneaky to put your website on your reception card for maps and directions even though your website has your registries, should I take my registries off???

I would say no, as long as your registry information is not the first thing you see.  If you're putting the website info in your direction card, that needs to be very detailed with direction information and lodging information.

 It def. has detailed instructions, maps, activities, and hotels, it also has all the bio info, and the registries. Thanks for making me feel better about it :)

Everyone definitely does NOT do that.

I've never received a wedding invitation like that - and if one like that did arrive, I know the circles involved would be talking about how rude it was.
