OMFG, aka- terrible baby names.

A friend of ours just posted on her wall that a friend of her's is naming their child Fisher Goosey.

*blink blink*

I... have no words.

  • I think that child certainly has right to say FML when he gets older.
  • My DH wants to name our son Optimus Maximus. Half Transformers and half Gladiator.

  • Oh, that's just not right.

  • Yikes. The first name isn't AWFUL, but that middle name...poor kid
  • Poor kid. I think that kid will be changing his name when he gets old enough.
  • I don't think Fisher is bad, but Goosey is just awful.  Actually, one of my nephews has Fisher as a middle name.
  • I think my favorite horrible baby names are: 1) Lukemia  and 2) Chandelier.  Real people - I swear to God...who does that to their children????

  • Fisher is part of my H's name too, and I don't dislike it.  But with a last name like Goosey, you'd think they could come up with something better than Fisher "Hey Fish her a Goosey!"
  • Oh man...Goosey is the last name? There's no coming back from that
  • My mom's maiden name is Morehead. She was more than happy to change it when she got married.

  • T's sister was telling me that one of the wedding guests last name is Semenchuck!
Then T's brother in law said he just got an email from someone with the last name "Fuckner"
  • I went to school with a girl named Candy. She married a man named Todd Barr.

    No joke.
  • I don't get the "super unique" new names either.  I feel bad for a lot of 2 year olds I know.  What's wrong with a nice, normal, time tested name?
  • My SSIL name is Texa much better then Texas but still I can't stand it.

  • Some woman with the last name Dong was on HGTV yesterday.  I felt so sorry for her.  My maiden last name can be misspelled quite easily into a somewhat socially inappropriate word, so I was only to happy to move on, but at least it wasn't that way when spelled correctly.

  • A friend of mine is planning on naming her daughter Coraline Betty-LaRouge (LaRue). Its pretty bad.

  • I've seen a couple recently:

Sir James was one....actual first name of Sir.
A woman came through with the first name "Nasteho". Culturally, I know that's not how it's pronounced, but for those of us that aren't from Somalia (her country), it becomes super challenging!
  • I went to school with a girl named Magic, and one who shortened her name so it would be Dee Lite. Seriously, if my last name was Lite I would never even consider naming my kid something that could be shortened to Dee.

  • If we ever have a son I want to name him William but H said only if its William Wallace LastName... men

  • some kids i went to school with were named seven and trillion. poor kids.
  • One of my friends named his kid Stormy.

If that wasn't enough...my friend was born a woman, but started hormone injections at age 16 to become a man.  After we finished grad school, he decided that he wanted to have his own baby, so he stopped the hormones, started his period, got pregnant, had the baby, and I believe has started back on the hormones now.

He was also interrogated by Homeland Security at the airport when he tried to fly back to Texas for Thanksgiving during grad school because he was on the terrorist watch list since his documents didn't match - his drivers license, etc say male, but Texas refused to change his birth certificate so it still says female.  They ended up releasing him and let him fly home, but still...wow.

I LOVE this friend, he's amazing and generous and super intelligent.  But I can't help but think his daughter is going to get picked on a lot in school between her name being Stormy, and having such non traditional parents.

  • My Boss is 70+ so there's no way that any one would laugh at his face but his name is Charles Wood and he goes by Chuck.  As in Chuck Wood.  It's classic.
  • I love goofy last names. I think it makes life that much more laughable. One of my residents when I was an RA had the name of Storm. His brother's name was Darby (which was his nickname, his name was G.H. and always told me it stoof for Good Hearted)

Bah. I just laugh along with them and remember to NEVER do that to my children.
