Re: For the brave people sticking around TK

  • I hate tetanus shots Beachy.  I remember my last one.. actually, I think I remember my last TWO.
  • I hate shots. I think I'm actually due for a tetanus shot... I feel like last time, I got it, they said I needed another one at 26. Too bad I'm uninsured at the moment.

  • I think I'm probably due for a tetanus shot, but eff, they hurt!

  • I hate that feeling, Beachy. My allergy shots are up to the intensity now where every time, both arms just ache all day afterward, and I get big golf ball sized lumps where the shot was. Gross.

  • I had one at 29.  The one before that was, I think HS.

[QUOTE]WAit wait, what is Kingston?!  I like boats. And Ritas....

First Weekend of August is the Powerboats Poker Run.  Big Boats, cold beer, lots of fun.  Second weekend is the Blues Fest.  Kingston is about an hour from Toronto by car I believe.  Sorry, no sure, I have only done it by car once.  Boat is my prefered mode of travel when ever possible.
  • I've always loved free shots.

  • I had a tetanus shot two and a half years ago, and my arm hurt like a biiitch for a while.  Before that, the last one I had was in high school I think.

  • Yeah I don't remember that last one I had.  At the earliest it was before college, so 10 years ago.

  • When I was in HS they told me a good way to work the shot out of your arm was to run the vaccuum.
  • That's also a solid way to give yourself a hickey, IVE ONLY HEARD.

  • WWF, you and me, that would be totally EPIC, even better with some 'ritas.

I am headed to DC next week.  Hoping to meet up for cocktails with cfas.

  • I could not tell you when I last had a tetanus shot. This is probably bad.
    image
  • Haha, did you have a "friend" who tried it Fish?

Yeah I've been doing a lot of arm circles and stuff trying to work it through the muscle.  But tetanus shots just suck so I think I'm screwed either way.

  • Run the vacuum? That's pretty interesting. I'll try that if I ever have insurance again and need to get that shot.

  • Mmmm...shots (the alchol kind).

Work in general drives me to want to drink most nights.  By the time I get off, the bars are all closed (I work at a sports bar and we are open as late as the bars around here are)

  • If you needed the shot that bad Angel you should be able to get it for about $100 without insurance.  Not that anyone is looking for ways to be in pain and blow $100 for no specific reason.
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • Yeah.. I don't remember trying it so I can't vouch for it.  I remember thinking even if it would make my arm feel better I still wouldn't do it.
  • I just filled out my first W-4 as "married", for my job starting next week. It made me smile a little, haha.

  • $100 isn't too bad, Beachy. I have a doctor's appointment in a few weeks, and I'll have to talk to her about what I do and don't absolutely need right now. They're seeing me at a reduced rate, which is pretty cool of them.

  • Beachy, I had my ppd shot today also.  Working in healthcare is such a treat.

Hopefully had my last blood draw today to check my coumadin levels today.  Ultrasound last week says blood clot is gone in my leg.  I am so over any needle issues that used to plague me.
  • Yeah I need the PPD to work in the schools here.  That one doesn't bother me at all.  I don't mind shots at all, just hate the pain that lasts a few days.
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • I just looked up when to get the booster shot and I guess its every 10 years. I might have gotten it when I was 13 (10 years ago), but more than likely it was 12 years ago since the last time I got vaccines were for middle school. lol.

  • It'll probably be cheaper if you have them give it to you at your doctor's appointment in a few weeks, than if you hurt yourself and end up getting one in the ER.  Is it NECESSARY - no.  But if you can swing the $100 I'd probably go ahead and get it just cause it's a cheap precaution to take in the long run.
  • I had to get a physical my freshman year for the swim team, so that's when I got one in HS.
  • I honestly can't swing it at the moment... I'm almost unemployed at this point, so until I get my job stuff figured out, I'll have to hold off. Hopefully that will be soon though. I still won't have insurance, but I'll at least have money.

  • Angel just don't hurt yourself on rusty metal and you'll be fine :).
  • Agreed, on the propably cheaper Loopy.

Also, Angel, if you ever go to work in Healthcare or a school system some shots are required so your employer pays for them.  Another vote YES for free shots of any kind.

    Make mine chilled absolute please!
