Addressing invite to married Judge & Doctor

Hi! Does anyone know the correct way to address an invitation to a married couple where the wife is a Judge and the husband is a Doctor?  I did some googling, but can't figure out who gets listed first, the judge or doctor?
Thanks a million!!!

  • I think you should list the woman's name first.

  • Ladies first. Do they have the same last name?

I'm pretty sure judge trumps doctor (though I couldn't find anything to confirm that). I'd do:

The Honorable Jane Doe and Doctor John Doe

This.  Please do not forget to put "The Honorable" in front of her name.

    That looks correct to me.

  • Agreed.

The Honorable Mary Smith and Doctor Thomas Smith

You can use either Doctor or Dr.  Also, you can break across two lines if you need to, between "and" and "Doctor".

  • Thank you, thank you to all who replied!  I was pretty sure it should be the Judge/wife first followed by the Doctor/Husband, but wanted to confirm. Thanks again!!!
