Website - Wedding Party Descriptions

I'm probably overthinking this, but thought I'd ask anyway -- What's the best way to "present" your wedding party on your wedding website? I was just working on it and kept the description pretty short and sweet - a couple sentences with a broad overview of how/when we met. But it's in the 3rd person (Darcy and Rachel met...etc) and it sounds weird to me. Is there a "proper" way to handle this?

I feel like just listing their names out is too plain - they deserve recognition! I also realize my FI will have to write something about his wedding party (as yet to be fully decided...that's another story).

Thoughts? :)

Re: Website - Wedding Party Descriptions

  • I think you could write it out first person - everyone realizes you're writing it.  Writing it in 3rd person doesn't fool anyone - haha.  It is a little awkward to refer to yourself in 3rd person though.

  • We decided not to do bios on the website.  We sent an email to everyone involved in the "day of" with little bios about each other, so they could "meet" a little over email.  But I've seen it done a multitude of ways that were cute and worked well on websites.
  • Coming from the theatre world, I'm used to everything being written in third person.  It would actually really bug me if it was first person.  I think you're right to keep it short and simple.  You could even do "Darcy and the bride met when..." if it feels better to you.
  • I like the idea of using 'Rachel and the bride met...' instead of listing out my name. Thanks, ladies!

  • I honestly wouldn't do it at all. I think it infringes on the privacy of your WP members, unless everyone agrees in advance to be on your website. I wouldn't want someone putting my name, possibly photo, and information about me on random places on the internet.
