Placecards, Guest List Privacy, & Helping Out

Preface: I had a limits on budget and space...

One of my bridesmaids agreed to help assemble the guest placecards. I put everything together for her and got them to her for assembling.

She took them to the gym where many of us are friends ... I find out later that she shared the guest list, the placecards (which included seating arrangements) ... those who RSVP'ed NO got to peruse the guest list and those who were not invited got their lack of invitation rubbed in their face.

How did I find out? There were a number of situations I had to deal with regarding
- why so-and-so was sitting at what table,
- why was so-and-so invited and not so-and-so,
- placecard design "suggestions",
- the dreaded "can i bring my so-and-so too since so-and-so is bringing so-and-so?",
- the "oh, it looks like the wedding will be fun, can we change our response to yes?",
- the "how come we weren't invited",
- ... and the awkward moments from those who were not invited asking if they "could be included in the guest list".

... what do you think? Am I overreacting for feeling like my privacy was violated? Is this a breach of etiquette?
