shuttle for guests

For my wedding guests need to park at a local train station and we are going to shuttle them to and from the wedding.  What is the  proper way of phrasingf that so people know that they must take the shuttle and cannot drive their personal cars to the wedding site?

People cannot just drive there because it is a private residence that does not have enough parking for all the guests.

Re: shuttle for guests

  • do they have to pay to park at the train station?
  • Personally, I would suggest putting a little insert in your invitation. In our situation, our venue is a 40 minute or more commute for all of our guests. Plus we are providing open bar. So, we reserved a block of rooms and our hotel offers free shuttles to and from the venue so that people don't have to drive or worry about parking. What I did was I got some nice paper that closely matches our wedding stationery. Then I typed up a little insert in colored fancy font letting guests know that we reserved a block of hotel rooms and that the hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from the venue. Our invitations just went out and so far people seem pretty happy to know that detail. I would suggest you do the same and just type something up that explains about the parking and shuttle service. Make it very clear that there is no parking at the venue. People will appreciate it so they won't drive there and find out the hard way. Plus you can use word of mouth as well.
  • I like the insert idea. I would be glad to know that information ahead of time if I were a guest.

  • You could put it in an insert and put that information on your wedding website, if you have one.

  • An insert is the way to go.

  • If it's mandatory that they take the shuttle, then I'd agree with everyone else and say to put an insert in there so that you absolutely know everyone is seeing it.

We did a shuttle to and from the hotel for our guests, but it was optional so we put it on our web site and let guests know by word of mouth as well.

  • For those of you that provided a shuttle, how much did it cost? I got an estimate of $925 from one company, which was way higher than I expected - wondering if you have any tips for saving money here. thanks!
