My fiance and I got engaged in October 2009, but the wedding isn't until August 2011. We've drifted apart from some friends that assumed they were going to be invited back when we got engaged. Some even gave us their addresses for save the dates... but now we don't want to invite them. I rarely see them and feel like our wedding might be awkward with them there.
My plan was to say that budget and spacing don't allow us to invite everyone (which is true), but we have a lot of mutual friends who we are going to invite, because we're close to them. I'm afraid the ones weren't not inviting will hear about it and be hurt. Also, I'm not really sure how to go about not inviting them... do I tell them the reason, or do nothing?
It's complicated because of the friends we share in common... I feel like they'll wonder why another friend was invited, but not them. This is starting to stress me out, and I have to send STDs out next month. What should I do?
