[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Gay Marriage & Bach Parties? : I disagree with this.  When a queer bar becomes a "hot spot" for straight people, it generally loses the revenue of the gay clientele they were originally serving.  I know plenty of gay and lesbian folks who go home once the straight folks start showing up.

<div>My view is formed very much from the very specific area I'm in. The gay bar that I frequent with my friends (gay <em>and</em> straight) seems to draw a straight women crowd but does not diminish the originally intended crowd either. It may be because there are not an overwhelming amount of options IN my area (frequently called the bible belt of Michigan).</div><div>
</div><div>My gay friends don't seem to care that there's a bunch of straight women, but I guess when they go out with us it's mostly for karaoke at the bar not to get picked up or pick anyone up.</div>

I think it depends on the area, for sure.   I'm in the SF Bay Area.  There are a ton of bars, gay and straight, that people can go do.  Don't get me wrong... I don't know anyone queer folks that hate when straight people come to the gay bars.  I think it's when the straight people "take over" the bars, is when it gets frustrating.

There was once a queer bar in the city where I grew up that had an awesome dance floor and pretty cheap drinks.  News spread pretty fast, and within a year, it was packed with straight folks.  And, then the straight men would get pissed that they got cruised in the bathroom... or the lesbians would get stared at by a bunch of frat boys if they kissed or were dancing together.  It didn't take long before the queer crowd was looking for another spot to hang out.
