Re: Morning

  • That's right. Rapunzel and Tiana are so new, they barely count to me, haha. I forgot about Snow White. Those other 3 are absolutely not princesses. Honestly, who wants Wendy to come to their birthday party?

Well, we don't DO Wendy!  I mean Disney calls them princesses. The company has four girls who do  Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle and Rapunzel, a girl who does Tiana, and one of the girls (who's teeny tiny) who does the first six also does Tinkerbell for toddler parties.

And thanks Mica!  That's H's favorite one.

Jasmine is my favorite. :) I'm way too pale to pull that off as a costume, though.

You're super cute in that Belle pic.
  • Wendy is a princess? Um, no. She's not. I refuse to believe that. Most kids don't even know her name.
  • I am racking my brain and honestly have no idea who Wendy even is.

  • Nobody does Jasmine? That's a bummer, haha. I can understand wanting Tinkerbelle at a party, but she's still not a princess. I wanted to be Tinkerbelle for Halloween so bad in college. I wanted to wear a teeny, tiny green fairy costume, but it never happened.

I thought I read somewhere that J.M. Barrie made up the name Wendy when he wrote the book, and that's where the name comes from. Interesting origin if it's true.
  • MUNI, you make such a good Belle!  She was always my favorite.

<div>We don't have a girl of the correct ethnicity!  It'd be super lame to have a WASP show up as Jasmine. </div><div>
</div><div>And thanks Bay (:  Belle's my favorite princess, too.  But Snow White is my favorite costume to wear.</div>
  • That's true, MUNI. I guess you guys need to recruit someone... Middle Eastern? Is that what Jasmine is?

<div>She might not think it's worth the extra effort to offer one more princess. It's harder to schedule when you've got one girl doing one princess.  If that one girl isn't free, then that party can't happen.  As opposed to doing, say Aurora, If I can't do it, one of the other three girls likely can. It's easier to offer an additional white princess.  When she added Rapunzel, it was just a matter of mailing me and the others a dress and wig and bam, we offer 8 characters now. </div>

<div>The animation in that movie is a fucking masterpiece.  Pixar can't compare to the hand drawn glory of that.</div>
  • Aurora! I used to love her!
  • You know, I haven't seen any of these movies in so many years.  I never even saw Tangled.  I probably ought to watch that one sometime.

I forgot all about her. Our neighbors had a kitty named Maleficent when I was little.
  • Haha you've never seen Tangled but play Repunzel? Repunzel is super naive and playful in that movie. Really, if I were locked in a tower my whole life I would not come out of it anywhere near as cheery as she did.

<div>Yep.  I got into a bit of a sticky widget once when one of the kids wanted me to sing some song from the movie to them.  I convinced them all to sing it with me and just anticipated what would come next as we sang.  Yay Improv!</div>
  • I'm about to go get some stuff done, but I was lurking this while waiting for FI, I just have to say... I was the princess in Aladdin when I was 15, and I am very white. We didn't call her Jasmine, though, because it was a play written by the director and I'm sure there were copyright issues or something.

  • Oh Muni, you should, Tangled is awesome.  I love it.  I don't like the animation as much as the hand-drawn, but it's still such a cute movie.

    That makes sense, MUNI.

I don't think I ever actually saw Sleeping Beauty in it's entirety. I didn't see very many of them in theatres, just when they came out on VHS and my parents bought them for us.

ETA - Uh, actually, I guess a lot of them were made way before my time. So stupid comment that I didn't see them in theatres, haha.

  • My sister & I used to argue about the changing of Aurora's dress at the end of Sleeping Beauty all the time when we were kids.
  • Herro? Still here?

  • Nice move Muni! I've seen Tangled at least 10 times and I still couldn't start singing any of the songs off the top of my head.
