I have about 30-45 minutes worth of DIY decorations that need to be taken down and put into my grandma's RV after the reception is over. She is going to take them to her house afterwards to store them until we get back from our HM. I've been struggling for weeks on how to get the mess cleaned up afterwards without putting anyone I know to work at our wedding. I've never asked any of my BMs to help with this, quite the opposite, I've told them that I really don't want their help with cleaning because I want them to be treated like guests. But they keep insisting that they want to help out, that they will gladly clean up for a few minutes if it makes our day better. I've been telling them absolutely no way. My mom and grandma have said the same things to me, in earnest.
I've tried to look into to hiring a DOC or someone off of craigslist to do it, but FI is not having that. He doesn't want us to spend any more money at all. And I get that, I really do, weddings cost a lot! His solution? "Babe lets just do it ourselves". Ummm. no thanks. That is not how I want to end my wedding, by saying good bye to all our guests and then rolling up our sleeves to clean up in our fancy clothes and then getting up at 5am the next morning to catch a plane.
I guess my question is at what point (if there is a point) do I give up on my quest to find the perfect solution and let the people who love me and who want to help just help me out? I've seriously tried to get my BMs to drop it but they insist on cleaning up. I feel like they will do it even if I tell them no way until the wedding day arrives! I don't want to feel like a rude hostess and I dread the thought of anyone not having a great time at the wedding. But I do need to get the stuff cleaned up somehow and the venue will only take care of their decor. Thoughts?
