WWYD about a restaurant?

My mother wants to throw some kind lunch celebration kind of soon to celebrate my engagement.  We live in different boroughs of NYC (neither of us in Manhattan).  She  mentioned having the celebration in Manhattan.  I haven't been to too many affordable restaurants in NYC, so it was kind of hard to come up with ideas.  Also the local board has has no bites when I asked about an appropriate restaurant.

Anyway, FI and I went to a latin restaurant on a Saturday afternoon.  The food was good, the service was good and they have a semi-private space that would be perfect for the engagement celebration.  I liked the place so much that I recently took a friend there.  The service on my second trip there was HORRIBLE.  I don't want to bore you with details because this post is already kind of long.

So, finally my question... Should I consider the restaurant for the engagement party or keep looking?

CN: Would you consider having your engagement party at a place that was great the first time you went but had sucky service the second time you went?

  • I agree that I'd contact them and tell them that you loved it the first time, were planning your party for there but then had a bad experience. If they respond in a positive way to that, have your party there. If they're dismissive, continue looking.

[QUOTE]I would consider it. Hopefully they will have dedicated servers for a larger party. Which borough are you in? How far is the drive for them? Do most people live near you, your parents, or in Manhattan?

I'd say that more people live near me.  The exact drive from my mom's home is hard to say because it depends on traffic.  I would say about an hour on a decent day.
