[QUOTE]i wouldn't leave him because of that physical impairment. but i know how bad his attitude would get. he wouldn't want to live. THAT would be hard to live with.

I could see this.  My mom really struggled when my dad was diagnosed with cancer.  Not because of the cancer, but because he turned into a giant assface afterwards.
  • What an A-hole..
My nephew lost his foot in an accident and he went to a champ's conference and they told him that if anything, his accident will weed out the bad/not so good people from his life especially in terms of girlfriends.

  •  That's horrible.  I can't even fathom breaking up with FI because of something like that.  I love him for who he his.
  • Its just a leg. That isn't even that huge of an impairment. Look at Paul McCartney. He married a woman with one leg and had a very bitter divorce for other reasons. She also went on to be on dancing with the stars. She would be fairly normal. He's just an ass.

For this guy, I say he should break it off. She deserves to be with someone who does not love her only as long as she fits his image of "perfect" (which apparently involves two legs). What if instead of losing a leg, he had married her and she had to lose a breast to cancer a few years later (this hits close to home, as I have a high genetic risk of breast cancer and my mother recently had a battle with it and lost both breasts - but IS alive)?

I actually also have a family friend who lost her leg to cancer, and her husband left her (and their three children) as he could not handle it.

People face things like this everyday. Sometimes how that injured person deals with it becomes unbearable to live with (i.e. they become severely depressed etc), but I have a hard time with this guy's attitude that "other then the leg thing" she's perfect and he is "madly in love with her" (no, he is love with a romantic ideal).
  • If my H lost a leg, I would love him all the same. That man is not in TRUE love.

That is my answer to this question by OP.
