Oh hai Thursday.

Hey!  I've had a totally nuts week so far.  Today's actually the first day that I've had time to, well, breathe, basically.  I'm not sure if it will last as one of my coworkers is out possibly indefinitely as her special needs child is having a lot of problems.  Poor guy. he's been to the hospital twice this week because he's stopped breathing. Hoping for the best for them!

Anywho, the temps have dropped again, we have 35kmh/25mph winds right now, and blowing snow. Mmmmmm. Last night was quite warm, so things started melting, then the temps dropped and it's icy as fuuck. GOOD TIMES PEOPLE. GOOD TIMES.

On the bright side, I bought two adorable dresses from Modcloth last night so I have that to look forward to!

Aaaaaaand now I'm done with my novella.  What are you guys up to today?

Re: Oh hai Thursday.

• Hey Snips! I'm heading over to my dad's this morning to do some laundry and have some lunch with him. We haven't had a chance to get a washer & dryer for the new apartment. Lucky he lives so close now. :-)

Other than that, not much else.

• Just work again today.  I wanted to have a sledding party with the g'kids a week from this Sunday (we have no snow in most of lower MI right now) but the ten day forecast says I"m already cancelling.  Never thought of planning a sledding party in March, but who knows.... even the big lakes haven't frozen over.

Nothing exciting for me today.
• Also nothing too exciting going on for me today.  Going to work, the gym and then out to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner with a friend.  FI is having a sleed study tonight (praise the lord) so I will actually sleep peacefully!  Haha.
image
• Kwill your FI is having a sleep study? Does he have sleep apnea? Or are they trying to determine that?
image
• He definitely has it - I wake up in the middle of the night when he is making this horrible gasping for air noise that sounds like a high pitched squeal.  It's awful.  And if he's not making that noise, he's snoring like a bear.  Pretty impossibleto get good sleep around here.  I can't wait for the results so he will finally believe me!
Morning. I'm anxiously anticipating the end of this week. I need some sleep like woah. I finally watched The Help last night. I really liked it, but holy crap was it sad. And I kept thinking, "There were(are) people like this?"  So now I've seen two Best Picture nominees. I probably won't see anymore before the Oscars since most are still in theaters.

Absolutely LOVED that movie.  You should read the book too, if you haven't already.  Both are great.

• Morning! I'm up working on a paper that I have to present later at work, then hoping in the shower. This has been a weird week-I thought I was used to my work schedule, but I am exhausted. I should go to kickboxing tonight, but I may be parking it on the couch and napping instead.
• Morning. I'm still up. I'm house/overnight kid sitting for my moms friend. She has to have someone over 21 sleep at her house with her kids (15 and 17) if shes out of town. I can't fall asleep here. It's weird.

• Morning. We're getting H's truck back from the shop today and I'm already dreading the bill. But at least it will be (mostly) fixed for his trip. He leaves early tomorrow morning so today will be crazy trying to get last-minute work things done while helping him pack (yes, I help him pack since he is working to finish his yards in time). His grandpa's funeral is Monday, so I'm glad he will be with family, especially his mom, for the week.

Other than that, just work as usual. I have to work on Sunday so I'm bummed about only having a 1-day weekend.
Kwill -- I haven't read the book, but a friend lent it to me. I just have to get down to it. I haven't been reading much at all recently. My sister is working on a novel and I've been reading her book bit by bit and giving her feedback. She is really pushy about me getting back to her quickly, so no time for other reading. :-) However, her book is pretty darn good so far, so I don't mind.

That's pretty neat!  You'll have the inside scoop on her novel.  My dad toyed around with writing a book recently and I was helping him edit as well, but now that his assistant went bat-shiit crazy and got addicted to crystal meth, he's been busy trying clean up a HUGE mess in his office.  Haha.
image
• kwill, that's crazy! Hopefully he gets it all straightened out, and gets to writing his book! My dad wrote one, and he was all proud. lol
image
• Yea - we were pretty shocked because we all knew his assistant well, had him over for dinner, etc.  Then my dad found out he was doing meth in the office after hours and other sexually explicit things IN THE OFFICE.  So gross.

• Lucas has one book written and about 10 more rattling around in his brain. He'll tell me about them and it's amazing to hear about this entire plot line he's created, but hasn't actually written out yet. Hopefully we can figure out a way to get the first one published. Even if it's on a small scale. I know that's what he'd prefer to do with most of his time.
image
• kwill - OMG ew.
MK - thats so awesome! I envy people who can write, and have great imaginations. Hopefully publishing works out for him :)

• Morning ladies!  It's been a crazy week so far but now I am working at home, drinking tea, and eating oatmeal (my new breakfast obsession).  H comes home tomorrow!  There was some talk of him having to go back to Norfolk next week but he's cleared to be home for the week, yay.

I haven't been sleeping great lately, and I actually think it is because I haven't been working out.  I was sick last week into this week so I decided to just give myself the rest of the week off without worrying about it.  I've enjoyed my time off but I am actually looking forward to getting back into the gym come Monday.

MK - CONGRATS!!!!!!!  So excited for you.  And I love that place :)
• Kwill, I wish my H would get a sleep study. I wake up sometimes and can hear that he is not breathing. He's a very quiet sleeper, but he definitely stops breathing pretty frequently.

MK, congrats on the job!!  I'm super happy for you.

Just got back from lunch and christ on a cracker it's cold out there. *shiver* I hate that we have to walk across the parking lot to get to our other building which actually has the canteen in it. LAME.

I haven't seen The Help yet. It took me a while to figure out that it was over here though, because they changed the title to "Pleasantville"
• Snippy, that's so weird about The Help! Any idea why they changed it?
image
• I have like 30 books started that I never finished. I have too many ideas and get excited about them and just move on to the next. But, at least I have a big selection to choose from when I'm ready to work on a new book.

Right now I'm debating whether I should save up to publish my next book as a paperback, or release it first for the e-readers only and see how it does there. I really want to get it out there but kind of hate just making it an e-book.
MK -- My sister is like that. She's been writing stories since high school, but they have mostly just been characters and plots floating around in her brain. This is the first one where she seems to really be set on getting it all written down. I've warned her that if she doesn't finish it I'll be pissed, becausese I'm really emotionally invested in these characters now.  What does Lucas write about?
Posted by cfaszews25
He writes kind of sci-fi stuff. Not really about aliens though. The basic plot line through all of his books revolve around a character he calls Phoenix. It's some kind of super being and I wish I could explain better what it's about. He has this other theme in the book about these nano machines that re-animate bodies (kind of like zombies) and form an army, but that's a side story, it's not about a zombie apocolypse or anything. Earth has become a wasteland, etc. I wish I could explain better. I read his first book a while ago and he's been going through editing and flushing out some details. The way it was originally written it could have been turned in to a graphic novel, but I don't think he wants to go that route.

• Morning.  I'm gearing up for my other busy day of the week.  But at least I'll be home by 7:30 PM and H is cooking dinner, so I have that to look forward to.

I still haven't seen The Help.  I wanted to go when it was in theatres but nobody would go with me, so I missed it.  My sister talks about wanting to see it with me, but we haven't done it yet.

• Thanks Abbs & Snips! I'm super excited!

• Bay I ended up going by myself to watch it. I did that with Bridesmaids too. I don't actually mind going to the theater alone. Kind of nice actually.

• Morning!

I was exhausted and fell asleep on the couch, but when I got up to go to my actual bed, I woke up and couldn't sleep until 2am.  Grr, what is wrong with me?
• MK that story sounds kind of awesome. If he needs an editor I'd be happy to do so for free. I love editing stories, which is good because holy crap I do a lot of that with my class.

Going to the movies is one of my favorite solo activities.  You're just sitting there in the dark, it's not like you're going to talk to anyone anyway.

H loves the movies so much and often when we make plans with friends we haven't seen in awhile, he'll want to go to the movies with them, and I'm always like, no, we haven't seen them in months, I want to be able to talk and catch up!
• Good Morning!  I could most certainly never write a book.  Writing and developing ideas is definitely not a strong area in my life.  Kudos to those who can, I'll just read your stuff.  :)

Sesh I will let him know and he will probably take you up on the offer. You gave me some info a while back on publishing so I'd love if the two of you could chat.

• Stacks how did the house/daycare hunting go yesterday?

• I haven't been to the movies in like 5 years.  I much prefer comfy clothes, a big comforter, tons of candy and watching movies on the projector in the comfort of my own home.
• Good morning early risers!

I got to work at 5:45 this morning, I think that's a new record.

I also got to drive our new SUV to work, so that made it better. My first car with heated seats!

Have a good day, E ladies!
