I laugh to keep from crying...

Things aren't so hot lately - and honestly..I just needed to vent b/c it's so rediculous. For months we were dealing with new tenants upstairs in our apt. building who were noisy and obnoxious. We tried numerous times to ask them to please keep it down, but they would not. Long story short - they are 3 prostitues living in a one bedroom apartment above us. They moved furniture constantly - just awful. Anyway, we decided we had to move..even though we only plan on being in NYC for one more year. So we moved just recently. First weekend in the new apartment, we realized we have a child next door that stays up later than we do and he runs and vibrates our entire apt. That sucks.

Last week, we found out that they are closing the store that my fi works at. He has not been told yet whether he will be kept on for the duration until closing (June), or be let go of. He's been actively looking for a job since we found this info out, but seriously. Not good timing :(

Two months ago we decided we would majorly scale back our honeymoon plans of going to Mexico, and take a quick mini-moon to Niagra Falls instead. A little cheesy I know, but we thought it would be fun and less expensive and relaxing. I booked the hotel room.  I found out last week that my work has decided to take us on a company trip (which is mandatory.) Instead of going to a tropical/beachy place like they ALWAYS do, they've decided to take us to Niagra freakin falls. I am trying to put my rose colored glasses on and look at it as a free trip...which is always nice. I know it will really just be a bad episode of the office though. Sooo...I'll be cancelling the honeymoon. Just shoot me...I'm done.

Thank you for letting me vent :)

I'm sorry your fiance may have lost his job, but everything else doesn't really seem like that big of a deal.

    Unless i'm missing something?

And just because work is going to niagra, that means you can't go twice in a year?

  • I wanted to go to Niagara Falls for our mini-moon, but we couldn't afford the trip at the time. I would love the opportunity to go twice.

    you're welcome?

Apart from the job loss, you don't have it that bad.

  • I don't really understand why you can't go on  your honeymoon.  Or you could you just plan another small trip to somewhere else?
  • Chin up.  There are a lot of other places to go that are in that general part of the world - keep thinking, I'm sure you'll come up with a mini-moon idea that works for you all.

  • The apartment thing is annoying, but that's just a risk that comes with apartment living. I', sorry your FI will be losing his job, it's definitely rough out there. But like some other posters, why can't you still go to Niagra Falls?
  • Thanks for letting me vent everyone! Yes, we could still go to Niagra...however, the trips would end up being pretty close together and the fi has already been to Niagra once...and doesn't want to go again on two more trips so close together. I don't really either. It's just sillyness...and sort of ironic! Oh well....I'm sure we'll figure something else out. And honestly, it wouldnt hurt to have the extra money we were going to spend on going to Niagra, and use it for something else. Just feels like alot of stuff is happening all at once...like a mean trick is being played on us! haha. Luckily our wedding is very small and everything is booked and the $$is there. So hopefully nothing else weird pops up..

This makes me think of the Roseanne episode where Darlene had to tell David that her parents were "moving furniture" when they were making loud sex noises.

  • I can't help but wonder why prostitutes need to move furniture so much.

  • Hey!  No worries - i know how you feel...when things start heading downhill all at once it's hard to keep things in perspective!  We aren't going on a honeymoon either because the inlaws said they would pay for it and then last minute chagned their mind and just COULDN'T understand why we still can't go.  UM Cause we can't afford it!?!?!?!?!   So we have decided to go (hopefully) on our honeymoon next year on our 1st anniversary.  Best thing to remember is that yes the wedding is a big deal and you want everything to be perfect, but you already have the perfect guy - after that it's all just gravy:)
  • And I thought my upstairs neighbors jumping up and down and screaming playing Wii at 5am was bad..at least they aren't prostitutes. Yeesh.
