Little humor in the title. Or maybe it's just funny to me because it's late here and I am sleepy! Anyway, FI and I are getting married in his hometown, two and a half hours away from my hometown. My parents and I have decided to hire a local (to my parents) woman who does a lot of decorating and whatnot for parties, proms, wedding receptions, etc, to decorate our reception hall and to help me decide what to do with our centerpieces. Since the job requires travel, would I be expected to pay for her hotel and food? Or is this something that needs to be discussed and included in any sort of contract? Also, would she be invited to the rehersal dinner as another form of thanks? I do not know if she would cover this in any sort of contract, or if she even does contracts. My mom has just discussed doing the decorations for me with her.
I do not mind fronting the travel, lodging, and food expenses. I just wanted to make sure doing so would be acceptable. Also, I was thinking we could pay for the whole hotel room then give x amount for gas and x amount for food. Is this okay or would asking for receipts and reimbursing for those expenses better?
Any other thoughts?
(FYI, wedding is in June 2012 and it might be early for some to start planning centerpieces and whatnot but I currently live 8 hours away from the wedding site and prefer to get all my ducks in a row as early as possible! We won't be meeting face-to-face with said woman until after the new year because of all of our schedules! :-D)
Thanks for your help!
