Ceremony programs etiquette

Ladies, I have a question about my ceremony programs. I printed out a sample to show to FI and he noted that I did not include my mother under the "parents of the bride". She passed away in February and I included a section in the acknowledgements that the frame and vase were in honor of her. Should I also include her name under parents even if she is deceased? Not sure what to do here.

We had a Memorium section in our programs, and that's where I listed my grandmother, even though I had a Grandparents of the Bride part our programs.

  • I am sorry about the loss. Could you put something like the late Mrs. Jane Smith if you choose to include her under the parents section? It is your wedding, so you do what means the most and makes you comfortable. Or you could do both, list her like you have it and then also list her in the "in memory" section towards the back of your program.
  • I think it would be nice to include her, but since you already have something acknowledging her passing I don't think it is like you are slighting her. It's your mother, you know best at heart.
  • ditto pp about it the program layout. If the parents are being included in the processional, and that is in the program, then no. If its just a little biography, then its up to you. I dont think that its RUDE to include her or not.

  • I ditto the opinion that if you do put her name on it, put "The Late Mrs. X."

  • Our FSIL's father passed away a few years ago. Their invitations and programs have

    Scott Smith

Son of Steven Smith+ and Mrs. Julie Smith

The + shown above (as an example) is a small superscript cross.
