Sudden death just before the wedding

My fiancé's daughter-in-law passed away suddenly 30 days before our wedding. Everyone is still in shock. Her husband is co-best man and one of her sons is the ring bearer. It's a second wedding for each of us and we're planning a small church service and restaurant reception with about 40 people. My fiancé wants to go ahead with the wedding since so many of our friends/family have made non-refundable travel plans. I'm heartbroken by this loss and am unsure what to do. Any advice appreciated...

  • I just wanted to close the loop, now that I have a little distance.

Thanks to your excellent advice, we did go ahead with the wedding and I am so glad we did! It was exactly a month to the day of my DIL's death and we had her husband light a sepcial candle at the altar so Lindsay was with us. It was sad, but sweet. It was hard for my new son, but his son--our darling grandson and ringbearer--made everyone's eyes light up. He is the spitting image of his mom and dad.

It was a very sepcial, unforgettable day. Thank you for helping me--I so appreciate it!
