Oh may garsh a newb!!

Longtime lurker! First time poster!

So I find out today via Facebook that my 20 year old cousin has proposed to his girlfriend! They’ve set a date for this summer and would like my address for the invitation.

I would like to ensure that an invitation to my serious live-in boyfriend is included (etiquettes 101), however the only way that my cousin would know of his existence is facebook, as I live across the country and we are not terribly close.

Would it be out of line to respond to the address request with Me last & BF last @ such and such address? This could be serious over-analyzing, I just also know it’s a breach of etiquette to correct someone on THEIR breach of etiquette (“So… you aren’t planning on splitting up social units, are you??”).  I also don’t entirely trust my 20 year old male cousin to be invested in the rules of etiquette. Is this alright or is my only option to see what happens and either accept or decline?

Thanks everyone!

  • A co-worker emailed me to ask for my address and I sent her back

    My name
    Fi's name
    1234 anyroad
    Anytown, MO zip

I don't think that's at all out of line.

  • Who is May Garsh?

ANd I think its fine to include both your names when you give her your address.

  • You're good! Tell us about yourself!
  • Thanks! I don't want to be too hinty-hinty but I also want to ensure he's able to come meet my totally insane back country family!

And Sarah, a google search of "may garsh" returns a result of this little fellow,

so your guess is as good as mine!

  • is it a TK glich or did you PIP a picture of yourself at the end of your post?
  • Edie, She/(He?) keeps ignoring my facebook friend request! RUDE! (We have 14 mutual friends, even)

And Midget… wait that seems wrong, MIDGE?! I’m just a little lady from Seattle that was supremely bummed when the Miss Manner etiquette forum ended and found my way over here. Serious Q&A addiction.

I was just so darned excited to have something to ask finally!

  • It does say midget, but everyone calls me midge.
  • "Midge" is infinitely cuter than "Midget" and Midge is infinitely cute.

    Fact
  • When I saw the name of the OP, I thought Chels had been banned and was starting over.

    I'm glad you weren't banned.
  • Midge is also an infinitely cute name!

And Dodgers, I'm actively doing a really bad job and figuring out the sig feature! :)

    Haha thank you.

Yeah my first thought was.. oh geez. I'm enough Chelsea for this board..
  • I think that it's perfectly fine to include your fiance's name when you give him the address.  Not rude at all.  In fact, I think it's nicer because then he knows how to spell your fiance's name and address for the invitation.  (I'm just going to assume that he knows enough to invite him, too.  If he doesn't, that's a different story...)

Thats so funny, I never even noticed it said Midget! I always missed the second 't' apparently.
Midge I lurk a lot but I have to say you are super awesome and so is your sig pic!

  • This new Chelsea is rocking the Amy Winehouse look. It's adorable.  I'd kind of like to know where you got that dress.  I'm trying to move more into the retro look but it's totally not done here so I'd have to shop online and ship internationally.
  • Ditto Rachers. OP you're adorable. Go to the Chit Chat board. There's instructions in one of their stickies that tell you how to put a sig in.

  • I giggled at "live-in boyfriend" I don't know why.  And I think you are also super cute.
  • I clicked on the pic and saw the tattoo sleeve. Even.more.awesome.

<div>Haha I almost said Amy Winehouse meets Kat VonD but I held back, I like it!</div>
  • Oh lord! Thanks y'all!

I have to obligatorily state that I've been rocking the Amy hair for 11 years... a little before than she came on the scene, The complarisons were constant when she was at her height of fame... and..uh, alive...

And the dress is vintage late 50's. One of my favorites!
