Re: Book Club Voting

  • Nope not at all! I was waiting to see if you were going to post, since you pulled it all together in the other thread :D
  • I figured we'd go on naming books for the next 3 days if we didn't pick a few soon.

  • When are we closing polling?  I want to read some reviews before voting.  End of business today?
  • LOL Mel. You sound so professional :)
  • Yes we should put a little disclaimer about each of them.

I take my books very seriously.

That was a joke.  I'm not an asshole.
  • Crap I want to change my vote. Oh well :)
  • Or just a link to the other thread that they are all explained in.

Ghoti mentioned in the other thread just doing one this month since there are only 2 weeks left in the month.  We could do that, or just set the date to finish the book by for a month from now.

Also, are we picking 2 books and people can choose to read either or both?  Or just one?

  • The only problem I see with picking 2, is at this very moment there is an overwhelming vote for bumped, which would leave like, 3 people to read and discuss the second book, which could also very possibly be next months book of choice. How would that work Beach?

Good cuz it's MINE. MY Book Club, MINE! *cackles wildly*<div>
</div><div>Sorry... I think my coffee is a little too strong today....</div>
  • That's fine with me Ghoti.  I really don't care either way, since all 4 of these books are now on my wishlist and I will probably read them regardless.  We could easily do just one this month and 2 next month.  I definitely think these books should go back up for vote next month too.

  • If you could could figure this out before I leave today, THATD BE GREAT.

  • LOL, birdie!

Fish, I think it's safe to say you can start reading Bumped if you would like.  I mean, MAYBE a bunch of people will come in later and vote for something else and nobody else will vote for Bumped, but it seems rather unlikely.  It's winning by kind of a lot.

  • Question for the Bumped people...I'm reading of it, and I'm wondering, is it Young Adult?  It sounds suspicioulsy Young Adult.  Am I dealing with a snobby reviewer, or is it in fact YA?
  • Mel, it's YA
"Megan McCafferty is the author of BUMPED, a satirical dystopian YA novel to be published by the Balzer + Bray imprint of HarperCollins on April 26th, 2011"
  • I like to consider myself a fairly young adult.  (I mean, 32 is the new 18, right?)

  • alix told me that the distinction of YA refers to the age of the main characters as opposed to the audience it's written for.

  • Per Wikipedia:  Young-adult fiction or young adult literature (often abbreviated as YA)[1][2] is fiction written for, published for, or marketed to adolescents and young adults, roughly ages 14 to 21

This. I mean, generally speaking, the age of the characters dictates the section of the population who's going to be reading the books, but YA is misconceived a lot as being the target audience, when it's "genre" definition is the age of the characters in the books.

    Crap.
    Ohwell :)

Hey, how the heck is the hardcover of bumped cost more less than the ebook??

    Eep, not more, less!
  • Looks like it's marked down, Ghoti.  But I think that's crap.
    image
  • Arent' eBooks usually cheaper than actual books...?

Says the ignorant fool still holding onto the notion that books should have pages.
