What should I wear?

To the NYE bash hosted by Mariah Carrey and Nick Cannon at the M2 Utra Lounge in NYC?

I know that it is going to be freezing and I have absolutely no idea what to wear. Our room is in time square on 47th street and we will be outside for the beginning of the day and head to the party around 9ish which is on 28th street. We will have to walk until we get out of the square before we can catch a taxi.


Suggestions?

Since you'll be out in the cold a lot, the only suggestion I would have is to wear more than Mariah would.

Remember there are no bathroms available once you are in Times Square.  That jumpsuit may not be practical in that case

I'm sure that M2 has a coat check, so even if you did have to wear a ridiculously big coat to stay warm, you could always check it at the door.  Shoes could be a bit trickier, but I'd rather look a little silly than turn into a popsicle.  Good luck!  And have fun!

Im hoping Ill have fun but Im seriousy doubting it. We made plans to go to nyc but then my friend surprised us all with VIP tickets to this club. They were rather expensive so Im kind of stuck. I really would prefer not to go. I was fine with choosing an outfit for the city but now for this party.. im stumped.

Wool tights, flat suede knee-high boots, a sweater dress, and a cute peacoat.  Ooh and maybe an angora hat and matching gloves.

Are there any other girls going with you?  If so, I'd check with them. 

It's a shame that you kinda got forced into this situation.  It was obviously very nice of your friend to get the tickets, but at the same time, he or she might have thought to check with you first -- to see if you had prior plans.

Heels, good suggestion!

There are 3 other girls going and none of them know what theyre wearing. I was hoping to get some insight from the girls from/near the city. Im not used to that particular enviroment.

It was a very nice gesture but now we all feel we will have to spend a majority of the night at the club rather than bouncing around and doing different things. I am sure we will end up having a good time though. Oh, and I really dislike mariah.

Do you have a puffy coat?  If not, I would wear the warmest coat you have along with tights or leggings, boots and a dress.  And drink vodka or red wine to help you keep warm

New Year's Eve in NYC at a club generally requires a cocktail dress and heels.  Obviously it sort of depends on the place, but I'm guessing if Mariah Carey is involved it's going to be sorta fancy.  Last year was super cold.  I wore pantyhose with my dress, but we wound up stopping at a random store so I could buy warm wooly knee socks - haha....it was a lovely look.  But it helped a little on the walk.   I also had a hat and gloves and just checked it all (including the socks) when we got inside.  Remember it's usually very hard to catch a cab in the city on New Year's  Eve.  God luck and have fun!

Im pretty sure I am going to go with the boots tights/leggings and a dress. Oh, and red wine and vodka is a deifinate, no questions about the acohol. haha
