I'm a guest at a wedding

I don't know where else to go to find the answer and I thought you ladies might be able to help me.
I'm going to a wedding next month and I found a head piece that I would really love to wear. It's kind of a hat(ish) style with the 'netting' covering the forehead. It sit's off  to the side of the head, not right on top. I was told that women are not supposed to wear hat's to the wedding dinner if after 6.
A little help please.
Thank you!!!!!!

Is that something you'd typically wear? I wouldn't wear it because it doesn't sound appropriate for most weddings I've seen. Maybe if the wedding is in England? (do they still do the hats at weddings in England?)
  • "Netting" sounds suspiciously close to "veil" to me. I wouldn't wear just for that fact alone.
