sending a gift even if you don't go to the wedding?

I have been invited to 2 weddings on the same day. We opted to go to the first wedding (FI brother vs a friend).

My plan was to send a gift to the couple of the wedding we aren't attending as well.

Is this customary, or is this just a "me thing"?
