Dexter watchers

This is my first season watching "live" and there's only two more episodes left   Since they only have 12 episodes, do they have a spring season as well?  Or will we have to wait until next fall for Season 6?

Just imagine that Season 4 ending and having to wait soooooooo long for the start of Season 5!  Lucky for you, you just finished it right on time for the start of S5.    I was going crazy for months.

This season has a lot to do in the next 2 episodes to make me have the same S4 feelings.  It took me a while to warm up to Julia Stiles, but I like her now.  That kissing scene last week was so awkward.

We've only seen the first 2 or 3 episodes of this season.  We're supposed to get together with my in-laws on Sunday to catch up with the rest!  I'm interested in this Juila Stiles story line.  I've never particularly liked her as an actress, so I hope she doesn't disappoint me.

Ugh, I can't even imagine.  I'm pissed, though, because I saw the actress who played Rita in that new show about the superhero family and H and I were like, "Why would she be doing another show...oh damnit, she dies!" so I knew the whole season 4 that Rita was going to die at some point and I was STILL like "HOLY SHIIT" at the end of Season 4.  I wish I hadn't know anything because that would have been a complete mindfuck.

I like Julia Stiles now too, but yeah...them getting it on was very strange, I'm not sure if I'm down with that.  And how on EARTH is he going to get out of this Liddy crap?  Someone's going to have to die and I hope it's not Quinn.  I like him even though he looks like he's gotten into drugs or something this season.  He's so skinny

Quinn is trying hard to come out of d-bag status.  I'm curious how it'll play out too.  I don't think Quinn will die though b/c then Liddy will still be a threat.  You know?  What if Quinn off's Liddy?  It'd be funny if Dexter SAW Quinn do it so then they just kind of ignore one another after that. 

If you look through Deb's trainwreck lover history though - they always die in the end.  Dexter's brother, Lundy........she's kind of a wh*re.

Yeah, I like Deb and all, but her "I'm in love with this guy, no I'm in love with this guy.  No wait, nevermind, I'm in love with THIS guy" is kind of old.

I'm hoping Quinn only finds about Lumen, but Deb convinces him not to turn her in. I also hope it's Quinn that offs RoboCop because of the blackmailing. But he'd have to make sure all the evidence is destroyed so it doesn't turn up later.

So my sister told me that Rita died in the finale before we watched Season 4, so she totally ruined the entire season for me.
 
She also told me that Deb & Quinn get together, and I haven't seen any of Season 5 yet. We don't talk about Dexter anymore.

But don't worry - Quinn and Deb in Season 5 mean nothing to the story line.

Remember her musician boyfriend - the informant that she dumped for Lundy? I liked him.  Of course she had to sabotage that, she can't be with anyone remotely nice to her.

I didn't like Julia Stiles at first this season, but she's growing on me.  And wasn't Quinn under investigation by IA a few seasons back for stealing money? How did he skate from that?

I LOVE Dexter. The first four seasons were amazing, but this current one has been disappointing so far. I hate the fact that Dexter and Lumen slept together and overall, there just hasn't been that excitment for the next episode. It feels like there hasn't been and building up of suspense or climax, it's just kind of been at the same level, with no peaks or anything. In fact, I can't believe the season is almost over. The writers are going to have to pull out all the stops in these remaining episodes to come anywhere clost to last year's finale.

That's what my DH says too.  But I've only seen this season and last all the way through (and only parts of the others).  I'm still on the edge of my seat every week.  I get so tense I can barely stand to watch!

And yeah it really blows that we have to wait a whole year in between.

I watched season 4 first, then went back and watched 1 and 2.  I was going to watch 3, but then season 5 has been on, so I'll watch 3 during the year break until season 6.

I have to agree that this season isn't as climactic as the previous ones.  I think they didn't make it as 'action-ish' this season because he was going through cancer treatments during filming.  I think the season is just starting to get good though, with Jordan Chase knowing about Lumen and Liddy spying on them and stuff.  For some reason, I think Quinn will be the one to kill Liddy though.

The only thing I haven't really liked about Dexter as a whole is that they rarely follow up with the previous season's story line.  Like this year with Quinn barely getting into the whole Dexter/Kyle Butler thing, but then just completely dropping it.  It might have made this season a little more interesting if he had things coming from both ends...dealing with the Trinity case and now Lumen too...oh well, I still love Dexter no matter what.

The writers could have gone in so many directions after season 4's ending. I'm just baffled at the way the storylines were written this season. It seems like the writers were confused, so they tried out different things before settling on one direction. I agree that it would have been interesting to see Quinn pursue the Kyle Butler angle, especially while with Deb. Overall, the storylines have been very choppy this season and with two episodes left, it's a shame the show is just starting to get really suspenseful and good.

<div>This isn't always the case-especially when cable shows have shorter seasons.  Look at the actress who plays Annie on "Community" but also has a role in "Mad Men".  I think it's doable and not always a give-away.  Joel McHale hosts "The Soup" and tapes "Community", too.  My childhood favorite example is Bob Saget, who hoted America's Funniest Home Videos and was also in Full House.  </div>
