I hate Cable Service Providers

My HD cable box stopped working and some hussy I'm chatting with to fix it is being a Grade A Biotch. She's asking me (for the 3rd time) if I'm sure I have it plugged in. No lady, I'm just telling you for fun. She already told me that the last four digits of my SSN are wrong. Wrong? Really???

AAAHHHHHHHH! Our stupid townhouse won't let us have dish.

  • Ours really sucks too.  You're in Milwaukee?  Is it Time Warner, by any chance?
  • No, it's Charter. Fricken Charter. I live by Madison, though. Asshats.

  • I know there are a lot of stupid people out there who really don't have things plugged in, or didn't restart, or whatever.  But seriously, you should trust me if I tell you I already tried all that.  It's a PITA to call in... why would I do it essentially for funsies?
  • Oh God.  My p arents had Time Warner (also teh suck), I have Charter.  I feel your pain so much.  Our DVR box skips and loses audio when it records.  When we first got it, it liked to randomly reset itself (always while recording something, of course).  And the customer service people are always rude.

They can be won over though.  I complained enough when they changed a channel so we didn't have it anymore that I got the whole package the channel was now under for less per month than what we paying without the package ;)
  • Her telling me I didn't know my SSN was the icing on the cake. That really ticked me off to start out with. Then she told me that if her over the phone fix doesn't cure the problem, they'll set up an appointment for someone to come fix it NEXT WEEK and we'll be charged $80 for the "emergency" service visit. WTF???

  • Talk to her manager.  Just keep talking to people until someone fixes your problem.  For free, and credits or discounts you for the time that you can NOT use the service they're supposed to be providing you.
  • Her name is Charitee. For real. Bitch_ is gonna pay.

  • We always just hang up and call back until we get someone that sounds like they have a clue.  We also got the guys phone # that installed our box and we randomly call his cell phone, I know it probably annoys him because it's not his job, but he knows WAY more then the people in the office that are just reading a script.

Do you live close to an office of theirs?  Once we just took our box in and asked for another, they replaced it right there, it took about 5 minutes and fixed all the issues we were having.
  • Yep, keep asking for a manager.  Or second tier support.  Or anybody else.

I hate it when they tell me to turn the router off when our internet dies.  I do this crap for a living, people.  Your service sucks.  Not my router.  Thanks.  (We have Insight.)

  • I had charter for a while and they were absolutely horrible. I actually had some dipshit lie to me and tell me there was an outage because he obviously had no clue how to fix my problem. I called back the next day to get an update and found out there was no outage at all. I finally canceled with them when they refused to answer a question about my bill.

  • Ugh, I'm glad I'm not the only one with dipshit service. I hung up on Charitee and called back and got Donny. The problem is gone. Whew! Now I need to focus on lowering my blood pressure again :)
