Moooooorning!

So hey! It's Monday! WOO! Right?? I know, I know, you love it!

Today, we are having the company builders in to see if they can fix the pipe for our dishwasher. We tried to fit an adapter on the pipe, but it wouldn't work, sooo, we'll see if they can fix it! Not bad for turn around time- 1 week! In Italy, they'd make us wait a month, then say they can't fix it without a tool or part and then disappear for another month. So, here's hoping!

What's on the agenda for you?

Re: Moooooorning!

  • Good morning everyone!

Have staff meetings at work today and Wednesday to get ready for the new school year. I get to meet the other teacher I am going to be working with, so that is kinda exciting. I just hope she is actually one that does work and not sit on her butt all day.
  • Morning.

I spent the day killing more devil plants and swearing that the next house will be a 2 brdm/2 bath high rise condo that has a gardner included in the assoc fee.

H was fishing with his buddy... :-/

  • Missy, it seems so early for school! Wow! Summer went fast! Probably for you too, huh? lol

Mrs, plant killing is fun! Right? :D

    hahaha....NO.

I have no use for gardens. Never have. They just suck time away from having fun.
You know the definition of insanity right? That's what gardening is here. I swear the stuff I was pulling out was re-rooting while I killed the rest of it.

I keep pushing for ripping it ALL out and installing tennis courts. H is still against that idea. We'll find a middle ground eventually.

Yeah, down here in the South (we are orignially from the north) school starts early. A lot of the schools start Monday Aug 9, but we start the 16. The summer has went fast with the wedding and all. But I actually wasn't teaching last year bc of the move and everything, so I am really excited to be getting back into it.
  • Ah, I see! Well, I'm glad that you were able to find work and get started. :D

Mrs, I find it to be a great stress relief when pulling weeds.
  • Hey miss Amoro! I've just finished my glass of wine so the rest of my monday will consist of cleaning teeth and sleeping! haha.

    How are you?

  • Mmm... wine. Just a few more hours for me and I will follow you there! :D I'm good, good. How have you been?

Good, just busy as per usual.

Nick found out today that his position is being wiped out (he holds a permanent substantive at a level two below what he's currently acting in, so this means a substantial pay cut), although I have a feeling the reason they're doing this is solely to motivate him to take the team lead job back, which he has done before but didn't want to do long term (it's the same level as what he's currently doing and they're trying to get rid of the guy in it right now as he's a contractor so on a higher pay rate). So, this has finally motivated him to apply for new jobs, which is really a good thing because he's so unchallenged in his current position; even though it's stressful, I think it's a blessing in disguise. As for me, I am fine; just the PhD progression and general busy-ness to discuss, really! and wine, oh-so-delicious wine which we had shipped to us from our most recent holiday destination.

  • Amoro, every time I see your name the song "Bella Notte" from Lady and the Tramp starts playing in my head. I can't explain why this happens, but I thoroughly enjoy it. I love that movie.
  • Seshat, that's extremely random, but hey! If you like it, that's good! lol

Oh no Sun. That's super frustrating for him I'm sure. Is he going to look overseas? I know you said you were open to that at one time.

Yeah, totally random. But I didn't have anything of value to add and it was the first thing I thought of. So, there ya go. The only problem is that I don't know all the words so it's just the chorus over and over again.

haha... Well, adding random comments is entirely worthwhile. :) They are accepted. But not knowing more than the chorus means you haven't watched far too much of the movie.
  • I'm not going to lie. I know all the words to that song. As well as every other Disney song.

Also, it's 4:30. I'm going back to sleep.
  • This is true, it's one Disney movie I haven't watched the hell out of. Pretty much all others I can recite word for word, songs included.
  • Haha, no. I just had a really crazy nightmare, and I needed to calm myself before attempting to sleep again. It's been a while since I've had one. I'm supposed to remember my nightmares to discuss with my counselor for my PTSD therapy. Seems kinda counterproductive though, IMO haha.

I'm not sure. He's going to apply for private sector jobs and one of the ones he's most interested involves travel. They have offices in numerous international locations and there's the possibility of transfer overseas in that role if he wanted, so that's the type of thing he's looking at. I guess we will see what comes up! He does have options for jobs in germany with his old workmates, but it's not really the right time for us to move right now (while I'm still finishing off the PhD), but perhaps in 6-12 months? We'll see!

How are you going with the job hunt?

    and good night!...ish
  • Aw, I'm sorry Panda. It does kind of suck that you can't think, "It's just a dream, everything's okay" and instead, have to write it down. Booerns!

Hm, well, hopefully soon you guys get something figured out Sun! At least the opportunity for Germany is open if/when you want to take it. My job hunt is ongoing. It's tough at the moment as everyone's pretty much on vacation until the end of the month, so I'll have to wait until end of this month, beginning of next for anything really to happen.

Night Panda, and I hope for you only sweet dreams!

Haha!! I love super fast attacking ninja cat! :D
  • Morning, everyone. LTB, I had a night like that last night. And my coffee cup is in the car so I don't OD on caffeine. Today is the first day of school for students. My older daughter started middle school today, and she was nervous. She didn't want me to take any pictures, so I missed out on that.

MissySue, which district are you in?

  • Well, we get a week off in September, a week off at Thanksgiving, 2 weeks at Christmas, a week in February, and a week in April. Last day with students is May 27. So we still go to school the mandated 180 days, but it is spread out a little differently.
  • Good morning, everyone! I have my hair trial today after work. Yaay! :)
  • Good morning! AK, have fun with the hair trial and come back with pics! Mine is on Saturday and I can't wait!

I woke up this morning in the middle of a horrible nightmare, the second of the night, after having a huge fight with my sister last night. And I chipped my front tooth on my way to work this morning. My dentist doesn't open until noon. It doesn't look any different, but I can definitely feel it when I'm talking or eating, and it keeps cutting my tongue, so I'm going to see if my dentist can file it down. Monday morning has sucked so far. Maybe it will improve.

  • Morning ladies! Holy crap LTB, I can't believe it's August either! I have to call our venue with our tentative count today. I think we're definitely down one groomsman so FI's bummed about that. There are so many little things to do, my Excel spreadsheets are getting a wee bit out of control, haha.

  • Baystate, I am so proud of myself that I remembered to bring my digital camera with me today. Normally I can't remember shiit first thing in the morning. Hehe. I even brought my make-up.. I'm doing my own so I'll do a "trial." I'll def have pictures!!
  • Thanks, Amoro. It's just one of those days, ya know? Hopefully the dentist will be able to get me in and it won't cost an arm and a leg to fix it. The one good thing is, it's not an aesthetic problem -- you really can't see the chip at all when I smile. So it could be worse!
