Re: need help

  • Dear x,y, and z,

My fiance (insert name here) and I would like to get married on x,y, z date at your beautiful church.  We have been members here since x, y, z.  If this is possible, please let me know.  Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Sincerely,
    cemay
  • Dear X:

I would like to use CHURCH NAME on WEDDING DATE for my wedding. I think the church is absolutely lovely/I've been a member of the church for X years, and am so thrilled at the prospect of getting married there.

Please let me know the steps I need to take to secure the date. Thank you for your consideration.

    Sincerely,
    cemay

I don't feel like this has to be lengthy.

  • Maybe add a little bit about you and your FI as well and why that Church is special to you (in addition if you are memebers or instead of the we are memebers line if you are not.) Churches do not care that you think the building is beautiful or lovely. They want to make sure you are getting married in Church for religious reasons and not for a pretty setting.

Who's in charge of the use of the church for weddings?  Can't you just talk to them after church?
  • I think the letters posted above are pretty good if you're going that route. I might check the church's website (if it has one) because generally under a "weddings" or "events" heading they have a lot of info about how to go about reserving things. I would check that our just to make sure you're not re-asking questions that they've already addressed. My church had its whole 24 page contract (seriously) that detailed a lot of what I needed to know available for download on their site. It also gave me a really good idea of what I'd be dealing with in terms of rules.

Also, before your date is concrete, you may need to talk to the priest/pastor/reverend in charge before he gives his blessing on it. I've honestly gotten far more information from calling church offices and talking to the secretary and leaving messages than I've gotten from e-mails. As many ladies on this board say about other things, it's really easy for an e-mail to get misdirected, deleted, or moved to junk mail.
