Do you give favors at an engagement party?

Is that etiquette to hand out favors for this type of party?

Re: Do you give favors at an engagement party?

  • I've never heard of favors at an engagement party before.

  • My mother hosted my e-party and yes she did give out favors.  It was her choice and she wanted to, but it's not necessary.
  • i'm sure you could, but i've never been given a favor at an engagement party.

  • Usually a nice wine or something to toast with, it's not required by any means.

  • I've never gotten a favor at an E party but if your budget can afford it then go for it! I've seen favors mostly at the rehearsal dinner and weddings.

  • My friends had small chocolate favors at their engagement party, but we didn't have anything at ours and I haven't seen that any other time.
  • My mom hosted out E-party and she printed out little wallet size of our E-pics (we just DIY-d them) I think they were a hit, I see them on a lot of peoples fridges.

    It is NOT necessary though.

  • I've never seen favors at an engagement party. Then again, I've rarely seen them at weddings. I guess I come from a crowd that doesn't think grown-ups need little presents to take home at the end of any party. I think of party favors as something for children.
  • I just asked this question about a week ago and I got similar responses; that favors are not required for an engagement party but if its within the budget then go for it. My parents are hosting our e-party this Saturday and my Mom asked me about favors...so I turned to TK for help and I was told that if my parents did choose to do them, that they should be an edible favor.

My Mom asked me to take care of the favors since she already had the entire party to plan and she isn't very crafty so I put the favors together at her request.

I bought small cello bags, bright colored ribbon, hersheys kisses, and printable favor tags. I wanted to give our guests something small to thank them for coming to celebrate with us.

My Mom is also going to fill a large glass jar with ring pops for people to take too!

  • I think it's okay to have them, but completely unnecessary. I didn't even have favors at my wedding.
