I dont get it, why is it all people here say the only job for a BM is to show up?

Whenever I see people complaining on here that their bridal party is not doing much to help them or is not interested in talking about the wedding much, everyone pretty much jumps on them for expecting too much of their bridal party. But aren't the people in your bridal party suppose to be your closest and dearest friends.…
