B-List invites... is it too late?

So we have gotten 99% of our RSVPS back, and we have some room to invite some more people to the wedding.

Is it too late to sent out invites to our B-List? (only about 10-15 guests on B-List)

Our wedding is June 17th, so RSVP date would be June 1st.

Re: B-List invites... is it too late?

  • Any time is the wrong time for b lists. It's rude, so please just don't do it.

  • B-lists are rude. Skip it.

  • B List is technically against etiquette.

That said, we're doing it, and inviting some coworkers and friends who knew they weren't on the initial guest list but voiced an interest in coming if we had space.

I think you're okay time-wise, but I wouldn't do it, unless it's something like ours.  The people we're inviting know the situation and are okay with it; I wouldn't do a broader second round of invitations.

  • No b-list.  If people aren't important enough to make the first cut, don't invite them just to fill seats left by those who RSVP'd no.  It's tacky and rude and people will feel like you're just inviting them to get them to give you a gift.

If you invite anyone with 3 wks notice, of course they'll know they are a b-list invite.  Everyone knows you're supposed to get at least 6 wks notice for wedding invites.
  • Ditto the others. It is a bad idea, don't do it. It is rude and just looks gift grabby.

And besides, people aren't stupid. They know when invites typically go out and if they receive one close to the wedding and/or rsvp date, they are going to know they were B-listed.
  • Please don't do this.
  • oh boy, looks like im not having a B-List! i just felt bad because FI didnt get to invite some of his friends because we were cutting is close with 148 guests on the list!

  • i know how you feel about the b list...there are some friends we want to invite but couldn't due to having to invite family first (both fiance and i have LARGE families)...so if that's the case, maybe it can be considered ok?
  • Its never too late to be tacky!
